overthetop
Playing some 2-4 nl on Prima when the following hand comes up. I have about 400, villan has 350. I have no real read on him, he just sat down and posted.

I get dealt 66 UTG and limp, 5 others limp which is odd for this table. Blinds call and we take a flop of 4c 6c 8d. I hit my middle set which is great. I check becuase someone probably has a flush draw and will bet it. Villan bets 4, everyone calls. I rasie it up to 40, trying to get the draws out. Now villan makes it 120 to go. Folded back to me. 80 to call and I can push vilan for an extra 230. What's my line?

I'll usually push in this situation, I'm over aggro though

I think anything but pushing is a mistake

you have to push here, calling is out of the question. He could have any range of hands and if he does have a set of 8's...oh well...If you are afraid of losing all your money then you shouldn't play NL...you can't lay this down.

with that many players seeing the flop, I'd bet he holds the nut straight. Even so, assuming you are adequetely bankrolled, I'd push and see what happened, it's not like you don't have outs.

The other thing is, he could be open ended with a flush draw, or have a flush draw with two overs, or an A high flush draw with a pair. Or in the rare instance, a high pair that was slowplayed. What all this tells you is there are many hands that could make his play that your hand is beating, so put your money in and find out.

There are too many hands he can do that with that you have badly beaten, I say you have to push. He has an overpair or 2 overs and a flush draw may more often than top set or a flopped straight.

I could be off on the math, but I think if he puts the rest of his money in, with the money that you can win from the pot, there should be about 400 in there. You already put in a 40 bet, and you'll just need to call off another 260 about, I think, so you are probably going to be getting 260 to win 400. This could be way off, but I don't have enough time to get all the exact numbers :-( , so if someone could do that, that would be great in this spot.

Anyway, that's about 1.5-1 on your money, two cards to come with a draw to the boat. This is only needed if he did flop the straight.

He could have lower set, two pair, overs with flush draw, straight draw with flush draw, so all the other possibilities you are ahead and want to get your money in now.

If you are behind to a straight, you are getting a decent price.

Push on the flop.
