Full Version: is this a good indication of the mean?

I got bored with $25NL on party and switched over to PLO. I've played a lot of PLO8, and in my experience it's more of a fight against yourself than against the other players. In other words, not sucking is enough to win a lot of money there. But on average, you only see a few glaringly bad players in PLO8.

So anyway, I sit in a $25PLO game on party and the following hand comes up.

I get KK25 double-suited, call an early position raise along with like 6 other people. Flop is K89, rainbow. The BB open farrells (for those of you who aren't familiar, he folded when he could have checked), EP bets $2, MP calls, MP2 calls, I pot for $15. EP calls, everyone else folds. Turn is another 8, which puts 2 spades out there. EP checks to me, I put my last $9 or so into the pot, and he folds.

I'm not bragging about the hand, I just want to know if I happened to find an extremely soft table. Can I really expect people to play this badly? What's a good hourly rate playing 4 tables of $25PLO on party?

You never know he might of been holding something like 10jqx. in that case he is drawing alright against you, and once the board paired on the turn it was his indication to get out of the hand. The set of kings was strong there on the flop, but if a st8 comes some way on the turn rather then the board pairing don't be surprised if your all in is called next time. I would give the person some credit of not being a complete idiot.

Say the turn is something murderous like the 7s. Am I married to my set anyway? I've got $8 and change and the pot is well over $30.. I can't fold, can I?

My hand figures to be ahead of pretty much any hand but T7JQ, right? And people will call with MUCH less than the best wrap, correct? I wanted people in for as much money as possible while I had the nuts. You favor checking the flop and betting the turn?

No, if the table is so soft as you've described, I would have done the same.

But if you are at an extreme tight table and someone pots right back at you, what will you do then?

Actually you are still ahead (I checked the potodd calculator) even someone's holding 7TJQ.

Good bet.

I need to get PokerTracker for Omaha. I only started with $25, so after my big bet I had like $8 left. If someone pots it right back at me, I beat them into the pot.

The way I see it, the number of people who called his $2 initial bet made it an easy decision to pot over the top because those people most likely cannot stand the heat from the big raise I'm able to make.

I am really starting to love this game.
