i'm pretty sure that mystery guest has, in order of likelihood:

a) 4-4
cool.gif 6-6
c) 5-5 / 7-7 / 8-8

it also looks like chris had a flush draw, and i don't like how he played it.

econ_tim
how would you play flush draw in chris's position?

check to PFR with the intention of raising if SB calls and calling otherwise?

idiotbocs
why?

this is a decent flop to semi-bluff at with a flush draw and what seemed to be two live pair outs.
econ_tim
What flush draw did you have, idiotbocs?

I think you would have 3-bet any suited Broadways preflop, but maybe I'm wrong.

We know that you don't have a King.

And you probably put me on overs, so I'm leaning toward hands like T8s.

Why no raise on the turn, with a bet and a call
in front of you?

Two guaranteed callers, and you might get lucky
and have one of the others re-raise.

I think the bettor's turn line might be bet/fold and I don't want to lose him. But raising still might be correct.
bdc30
He check/raises the flop, then bet/folds the turn?

Not usually--I would think you might even get
a raise out of him more often than not.

Well I got one of the hole cards right :-)
bdc30
bocs, you're calling a turn raise with your flush draw
after you already have one bet in there right?

What do you think he's c/r ing flop with (using only the action up to the turn as a guide)?

I think he would 3-bet an overpair preflop.

And probably not 4x.

We know he doesn't have a nine.

He could have a flush draw with a 4, or maybe a pocket pair.

I don't think he would c/r with overcards, but maybe so.

Anyway, the king could be a scary card for the bettor, but I guess he calls often enough to make raising the turn OK. I'm not sure how raising the turn will affect the action if no one improves on the river.
bdc30
interesting point about affecting the river action
with a turn raise.

that's why i love discussing this stuff though, there
is really no RIGHT answer for every situation.

I agree that the king was a scare card, but you
never know, somebody may have one (or even better, two)
and re-up your bet.
