I have been crushing this heads up table all day, showing a good 10BB/100 profit (if I had to guess)
no PT stats or converter cause i was playing on a computer in my old school's computer lab.
villian is first tricky player to sit in hours. he is loose aggressive but with pretty good (but very unorthodox) post flop play. From what I have seen, he can get over involved wiith marginal hands, but for the most part is he ok.
I am dealt J

8

on the Button and raise. (I raise tons on the button heads up). Villian 3-bets (not uncommon), I call.
Flop comes down 5 8 Q (rainbow, one club)
Villian bets, I call.
Turn brings the 4
Villian checks, I bet, Villian raises, I call.
River brings a T

(or some offsuit)
Villian checks, Hero ???

OK I tried to retrieve the hand history but the computer will not let me access the hard drive for security reasons (the computer is on the school network)
so this is all you get.

if i had to guess, he missed his club draw.
but he could have rivered the ten or two pair with his club draw.
he's probably folding to a bet...
i think i check through.
aseem
p.s. no hand better than 8's is folding, and i don't think it's strong enough to value bet. but, if he is stubborn, you might value bet this and make him pay one more bet with ace-king UI maybe or a lower pair. it's close if he's stubborn, i still lean towards checking...

Ofcourse you raise a lot of hands on the button ;-)
This has been my favorite game recently, same limit too, 2/4 limit heads up on stars. People play waay too weak. Mainly I like to open a 6 handed table, play it up to about 4 people, if I really like the game, I stay, if not, I start another one.
Heads up limit against weak opponents rocks.
Btw, I'm sure you've read SS2, I really like Harman's section on shorthanded limit play. It's really short, but I think its a jewel.
Anyway, I like how you played the hand. I think this is one of those situations where you check the river, I can only see his check raise on turn as a bluff (semi bluff ish), or a better hand than 8's. I don't think there's enough possibility he has a worse hand than a pair of 8's that will call the river. I think he will fold or call with a better hand.
BUT... I also think I could be completely wrong :-(
Ofcourse full table, you are checking. Its a medium hand that has no value in a bet. Heads up, there are only two overs. Maybe he calls with A high and a busted draw. Maybe he calls with bottom pair. I have had the rare opponent before who likes to check raise both the turn and river, which I personally think is an odd play.
Ah, heads up, I'm just rambling. I say check, but I can agree with a bet too. Hmmm....

I suck at HU (was eliminated round 1 of oic). I don't know how prone villain is to call with A high or to c/r river, but I think checking behind here is fine until you get tighter read.
BTW, doesn't UB have a reasonable rake for HU, like $.5 max per hand?
