Preface with a bad beat.

$5 R + A Party Poker MTT, about 2k people. We get down to the final 50 people and I'm chip leader (I'd never made it this deep before, so I'm ecstatic). Blinds are 4k and 8k and I have about 390k in chips. Someone from middle position goes all in for 370k and I have AA. I call and he rivers an 8 for a set. Bad luck, I understand I have to call in that spot. But here's my question...what can I lay down?

Personally, I don't think I can lay down KK, but I'm pretty sure I can't call with AK. What would/should you guys play in that spot.

Don't say you would have laid down aces...you're lying :-)

thanks...

Depends on many factors, one of the most important being do you want to win the tourney, or place somewhere in the money? If you want to win, I think you can call with aces, kings, ace king, even queens. If you want to place, you could have folded the aces, as why risk so much at that stage of the tourney when you have so little invested right now? Better spots IMO (I have laid down kings in simialr situations, always incorrectly). lol
