I just decided recently that i am going to learn another game besides just playing NLHE. so i downloaded that crappy ESPN poker club free poker to practice my game cuz they hold crappy one table tournaments for O/8. So i was playing a hand tonight in which in the showdown,(we checked all the way through), he had made a straight 2-3-4-5-6, thus his low hand as well, and my low hand was A-2-5-6-8. I am still new to this game so i was wondering why he won with a two low, when i had a Ace low. Any help would be appriciated.

His highest card was lower than your highest card(of the five you use).
Reverse the hands in your head. So he had 65xxx, you had 86xxx.
He is lower than you.

Low hands are read from the highest card down. Like akishore says, think of it in terms of actual numbers: 75432 is lower than 85432, isn't it? Hope this helps.

Right, make it a 5 digit number, from the top down. Tells you that 86542 beats 8732A, even though the second hand has a lower low card, a lower second, and lower third card. Lows are counted from the top down. 7 high beats 8 high, even if its 76543 against 8432A.

Aseem rocks.

If you have a2348, but your opponent has 23457 your opponent wins.
If you have a2368 and your opponent has a2458 your opponent wins. It goes from highest to lowest.
