Full Version: anyone want a gmail account?

I've got 5 invites left and I don't have any friends because I'm an anti social poker player. Well I do have friends but I don't remember who they are seeing as all I can remember is the last 100 pots I played.

Gmail is so good I prefer it to my pop3 account emails, if anyone wants an invite just pm your name and current email address. It's hosted by google, and google rules, cause you can search for stuff... and stuff. Hotmail? That's what Fred Flinstone is using!

I'm not being nice, I just want to get rid of that little string of text saying "Invite 5 friends to gmail"... (there's no benefit what so ever to inviting someone). Yes, I hate you! Have at thee! I'm a mean lean mean lean machine.
Munky
Sure, I've been wanting to join for a bit. Thanks.
rkard
ok, just pm me your name (real or not) and current email address if you want it (to signup).
rkard
3 left but it's 4 am and I'm off to sleep now.

rkard,

Next month you will be able to invite 6 more friends. So, your string won't go away completely. It will come back.

Oh... and if anyone else wants one after rkard uses this months allotment, you can PM me as well. I love gmail! It is awesome! Best Spam blcoker yet. smile.gif
rkard
Noooo, it never eeends.
I've got 2 left, for this month I guess.
Munky
Thanks!
rkard
np, one left now.

I got your joke, serge, and I think it's an HOF bump. When I first was reading the threads, I was so puzzled about gmail invites, till I looked at the date.

That whole gmail rollout was fucking genious.

it was great, wasn't it? precisely controlled the stress testing, created demand...

of course, we all know now that they were destined to rape regardless of how it rolled out

Stress testing, my ass...it was pure marketing. Create demand among the geeks that just had to have it right away by telling them they couldn't all have it, then have them spread the word by giving them the ability to feel cool because they had exclusive invites to give out to their less techy friends. Seriously, it was damn impressive.

Much like this post.

I was too busy trying to decide between "fucking genius" and simply "ingenius".

Anyways, the jerk store called.

I didn't even think twice about it because serge spells it that way as a joke all the time.

gmail's team was fewer than 20 people for a long time, iirc. I do think they had to limit the amount of traffic pounding their shit initially.

did you know it finally came out of beta a month or two ago?

Oh, god no. I'm not a tech geek. I'm not even someone that cared when tech geeks sent him gmail invites and told him it was the best thing ever. I still don't use gmail. Even if Larry Whoever and The Other Google Guy called me to personally inform me that it had come out of beta, I would have paid so little attention to them that I would have forgotten what they said immediately after I hung up the phone.
