Okay to just call the 3-bet in hopes that he'd bet into me on the turn?

yeah, your raise makes the draws pay and his 3-bet tells you hes gonna bet on the turn way more often than not.

I guess its fine, IMO hes calling one more either way so a safe turn can get u an extra bet, raise/call if a diamond turns and hope ur redraw hits, c/c if it doesnt.

this is my guess, not sure though?
