okay, so poker is a game with 5 cards where you make bets based on whether your hand is "better" than the hands of the other players based on pre-set determinations high card, a pair, two pair, three of a kind, straight (thats five cards in sequence), flush (all the same color and shape), fullhouse (this one's a little complicated-think of it as the Olsen twins and three Danny Tanner's), four of a kind (I think you can get this one), Straight Flush (this one may be beyond you), and a royal flush (this has the letter A three cards that could wink at you and the number 10 same color same shape--this is a very good hand to have).
Theres a little more, but if you can understand this much you may actually have something to add here.
