Full Version: two simple limit hands

Ok, granted, there probably isn't much analysis in this hand, nor any I might be posting. But it would be helpful to know if I am somewhat on the right track, I don't want major leaks in my limit game as I start playing it more.

I mainly just play nl holdem , omaha high/low and stud high/low. I've read the necessary limit books however, I just always get frustrated at the game.

Anyway, here's a couple simple little hands. I think I played it how I was supposed to, any comment would be helpful. I will post better ones as time goes on.

second one i agree with

first i woulda called, cuz ur gettin 5 to 1 and the flush will come 4 to 1
on the other hand your flush very well might not be good if it comes on the river, but i still woulda called

Not a good fold in the first hand. You've got 9 likely outs to the flush. Your opponent probably limped with a semi-ragged Jack, and if he's not holding KJ, you're going to have 3 more outs to a better 2-pair.

You're giving up money everytime you fold this hand, especially since you'll probably snag a bet or two when you make your hand. You're drawing dead here very rarely.

Ok, so I was getting 5-1 on a 5-1 draw, I just thought the possibility i might be drawing dead, with the fact its basically a break even play, it would be fine to fold.

Would anyone three bet the flop out of position with the flush draw? I figured since its only 1/2 he'll pay me off with a Jack, so semi bluffing a draw, and trying to rep the 2 wouldn't be a good idea.

Call hand one (pot odds are in your favor).

Lead the flop on hand two. Representing the ace is fantastic if CO doesn't have one. Don't let the over cards scare you away that easily.

You're drawing dead to 77 (which raises the flop why?), JJ (which limps preflop why?) J2 (which is playing... why?) and 22 (which is popping the flop and putting extra pressure on you with a monster..why?). As you can see, you're almost never dead here. More often than not he's raising it up with a jack. He doesn't have any way to counterfeit your flush outs. And your King is going to be good a LOT of the time.

Those extra 3 outs, your implied river odds, and the fact that you're surely not drawing dead move it from "strongly suggested call" to "mandatory call"

Hand 1: If you think someone will bet, check/raise the flop. Otherwise the flop play is fine. Call the turn - you're getting the right odds.

Hand 2: Lead out on the flop. Always lead out on the flop if you raised preflop.

I usually would, but the CO reraised me, then two overs fell. And I just called his raise preflop. At that point I think I just gave up and hoped to catch a 10.. oops.

Ah, I missed the preflop 3-bet (I'm a bit out of it today). Hand 2 is fine. smile.gif
