Full Version: i'm developing a bad habit on party poker

Recently I've noticed a disturbing trend while playing on Party.

Many times, I'll get AK or AQ and raise the standard 4x preflop.

Get 1 or 2 callers.

Flop comes something like 2 9 K or 4 8 Q. No flush draws and no open ended straight draws.

I'll bet the pot 1 of the 2 callers will re-raise me all in and I call with top pair top kicker.

When I play PP 10+1 and 20+2 sit n go's more times than not, the player going all in has top pair weaker kicker so good for me.

However, the problem I have is when I play in the big multi table tournaments, usually the player goes all-in and hit his set. Because of my experience in Sit N Go's, I have a hard time folding top pair top kicker on an uncordinated board.

If the board is coordinated, I don't have any problems slowing down or folding...it's just the uncoordinated boards that give me problems.

Any suggestions?

In cash games, you can wait for bigger hands than TPTK to go all in with.

It's really just a judgement call. In this case you are ahead a majority of the time, as they will be pushing with A weak kicker or sometimes even a high pocket pair.

The question is do you want to risk your tournament life here. Do you have enough chips in the pot to justify an all in call? If it was a short stacking pushing and he was the only one in the hand with me, I'd call in a second. If it was someone who had me more than covered, I'd hesitate.

Also, if two people pushed all in before me I'd get out that hand. Someone is going to get garuanteed to get knocked out on the hand so I benefit even by folding at this point.
