Since thursday night ive had a amazing run of cards. I went from $620 and now i have almost $1150. The problem is i have only played about 1k hands at $1/$2.

Would You:

A) Play $1/$2 6-max till you get about $1500 or another 3-4k hands
cool.gif Just try $2/$4 and see what happens

i want to move up but my huge 17BB/100 hand upswing cant last forever. Ill probably end up playing 1/2 6-max till i get around $1400 then move up. I dont want to move up then have to move right back down cause of a bad downswing and playing scared isnt good.

Think ya answered yr own question mon ami. Nice work though. I'd stay stick with what works for now. It would really suck to go up and then have variance bite ya in the a$$.

Move up.

Worst case you have to move down and you get more hands in at 1/2. Best case you cruise right to 3/6 without passing go or collecting $200.

The more new players that get to 3/6 the better.

You play on Party, right?

LoL, I've noticed a lot of people jump to 3/6 too quick, I think 3/6 is where you notice a difference in play, you have to fear the turn check-raise because the 3/6 players seem to think they need to do this every chance they get! It's ridiculous really, but beyond that... Contrary to Smash here I'd say (for your own good) stick to where you're at for another 3-4k hands and analyze your play.

I don't recomend moving up until you've proven to yourself over 10k+ stats that you can beat that limit. That is... for 2/4 and above, every below that... jump up at will.

Just move up. Really.

Test your limits.

You have the bankroll, you either have the skill or you don't. Go find out.

Now that he puts it this way.. just KNOW when to move back down!

I just moved back down from 5/10 because after beating it for a week or so I've hit the longest downswing of my life.. including 1/2 tables so I Know it isn't any leaks...

I read a fischman article about getting over the ego when it comes to limits. A lot of people think that once they get to 3/6 or 5/10 or whatever that they have to stay there, and if they move back down it's admitting defeat or something, **** that.

If you think you're gonna play scared at 2/4, then you will play scared at 2/4. And you'll just end up losing money. So, unless U wanna give it to Smash (he seems awful eager to take it) I'd stay where you are until you're mentally ready to move up.

Make sure if you do make the move to stay there for at least 2k hands, imo.

I started at one limit, nailed the good side of variance and got 7.91BB/100 over the first 1k hands. Tried to make a run at a higher limit. Had 200BB to give me a shot at hitting my deposit bonus. Managed to lose 10 BB in exactly 8 hands there. Dropped down and was loose/depressed, managed to go on a 45 BB downswing that I blamed on the cards. While I was legitimately on the nasty side of the variance, some tough review of my hand histories showed me that I could have saved about 10BB there by not being a moron.
