I'm not sure why, but I didn't think he had a pair here, I figured him for either overs or a draw. Based on previous hands, I think I figured he would've been more active preflop with a pocket pair, and more active on the flop with a 9 or an 8. So on the turn I thought I probably had sevens, sixes, and fives as outs, which is why I called.

A little background; I consider J4 to be my favorite hand, just because in one of my very first online games, I folded it preflop (I think it was an NL tourney) after briefly thinking about calling, and then the flop was JJ4. I'm sure I've flopped a dozen folded full houses since, but I always remember that one. I don't make any special effort to play the hand; but I'm always thrilled when I get a free play in the BB with it (even though I virtually always fold the flop). I played it here because it was suited and I had the button. And obviously I liked this flop. This hand really sucked for wrto.

I felt I played pretty well during the second half of the matchup, getting good value for my hands, picking up some small pots by bluffing the flop, and mostly staying out of trouble. I don't have tons of heads-up experience, and I think I improved my play just by playing this matchup. But also, the cards went overwhelmingly my way, particularly towards the end, and that's the reason I won.
