Ive tried a whole bunch of poker sites out, starting from pokerstars, playtigergaming, paradise poker, full tilt, absalute poker, partpoker, and
then to ultimatebet.Ive found that ultimatebet has the fastest game play
and the best setup out of all the poker sites out there. I even find the people
who play there better and more respectable then most online poker sites out there.I find the worst site out there for game play and free roll turnys
is playtigergaming, i downloaded this site because a saw a add on tv jering
a commercial on wpt, saying they had all these free online turnys and stuff, i download the site and i go to check out the turny list and theres none, i dont know about most people but i call that false avertisement.

UB definately has the best software HANDS DOWN.
The play at mid limits is pretty tight, though, so they really don't have the best games.

I have been playing on-line poker for more than a year now. During that year I have been playing on UB, PokerStars and ParadisePoker which are three excellent poker sites.
I have to say though that I have made a pleasant discovery last week: goldenpalacepoker.com. If you play mostly (or only) Texas Hold'em, they have a fast game and a very good software.
No doubt now that I will be playing that site as much as I am playing the three others.[/u]

UltimateBet is by far my favorite, but I think the competition is much stiffer at PokerStars. I'll confess that I'm not a well-rounded player or even a proficient position player (my modest winnings come from being patient and letting suckers bet their middle pairs, etc.) I've noticed I'm able to limp into most pots in UB tourneys and sit-n-go's with cards I wouldn't dare play in PokerStars tourneys. It just seems to me, based on the betting patterns, that players on PokerStars in general have more knowledge about position raising, EV, equity and the like... far more knowledge than I have.
Fortunately, I find the interface at UB the best around. I just can't figure out why it doesn't seem to have attracted as many sharks at the $10/$20/$50 buy-in levels as PokerStars.
For the record, FullTilt looks and feels like it was designed by the proprietors of Circus Circus. Anyone actually prefer it?

The games at Stars are softer, and softest at Party.
The sharks will go wherever the most fish are.

Their bonuses are just horrible.
Not that I derive most of my poker income from bonus money, but I'd like to be able to have it credited in lass than a decade.

personally I play on AbsolutePoker, I like the site, but the software does crash at times which gets annoying, but they probably have the best tournament structure of any site out there. Nobody beats them in that department. I play mostly cash games though, but it's still pretty good, you get a pretty good read on players since you see the same ones a lot of the time.
FullTilt is horrible, I hate the cartoonish graphics and then the deposit bonus on top of that is terrible. You'll never earn it playing low limits. I just chalked up the $200 I deposited as a loss, I didnt even get half way to earning my first $20 before I lost it all.

I designed alot of what you see at (or associated with) UltimateBet - it's still kinda odd to me that the account area on UltimateBet (in the game itself) is still the same from back in 2001 when I set that up - I almost laugh at that design these days. Hmmph. Anyhoo. That's my non-related 2 cents worth

Then you are too modest, because you were a visionary. The only other interfaces I can tolerate are at PokerStars and Pacific Poker.

I agree UB is a great site. Fulltilt is ok but seems slower.
My favorate site is Bodog though. THe software and layout is not the best in the world but it is pretty darn fast. The real reason it's my favorate though is because it has the softest games on it. It makes the players at UB look like tough and I never though most were all that tough (1/2 NL and below at least).
The worst is TruePoker. It was the first poker softwear I ever downloaded and I though it was neat. Recently I downloaded it again and it is the exact same as it was 3 years ago.

I have accounts at PokerStars, FullTiltPoker, and last night got on Ultimate Bet.
I can NOT see what you guys are raving about in the UB interface or software. The names and totals are difficult to read in the chairs. Compared to other sites I've played, it is even difficult to see immediately who's turn it is to play. The chairs on the far side of the table are not distinct when highlighted.
I didn't find it any faster than either PokerStars or FullTilt. And the advertisements were killing me. I felt like I was in a web site with banner adds and popups EVERYWHERE rather than a site I chose to enter.
What am I missing here that makes Ultimate Bet so great in the eyes of so many players? Help me out here.

I like UB
but I HATE that damn "pot" button. No one makes bets on the site. It is always pot pot pot, no thought behind the betting.
On the flip side it is good because people with middle pair or a draw will just hit pot, and if you have a strong hand you can take them for a bunch.
But really....it takes away the fun

Still nobody coming back with why UB is so great. I think the interface is totally lacking.
There is alot of negative toward FTP, but I think it's the best interface I've used. If you don't like the Avatars, turn 'em off, just like you can the personal images in Pstars.
Didn't take me long to get my FTP bonus even playing .50/1 and 1/2 nl hold'em. Why would it take a great player like Smasharoo take so long to collect on his bonus with the money he puts into a pot? Surely not a decade.

UB is faster, you can see your own cards better, and it is first person. It also has by far the best microlmit games, allowing you to come in from scratch without a deposit and play with house money if you are good enough or persistant enough.
You can't beat that.

Well, I can see cards at all sites. The microlimit on the house is nice. But I still think their i/f is terrible.
FTP is the best looking site IMO and PokerStars is just managed so well and has incredible customer support.

VirginiaGent, don't have those problems. Your monitor is probably overextended. Might want to try backing down a resolution level or drop the frequency. An aging/weakening monitor sometimes can't match its top spec any longer. Also, might try a degaussing...
My major complaint about UB is that there's no indicator that you have notes on a player. That is serious annoyance.
Being always in the same position is a huge plus for me. My cards are easy to view. I like the pot bet option; it may be overused but its also easy to use correctly; that helps make NL 'interesting' to play.
Would not mind seeing multi-column sorting allowed on the lobby and being able to use/define a default sort.
The mini view is helpful when I occasionally have a multi start while I'm still in a SnG--actually more than helpful.

I only play stud 8 for UB points if there's a game going. I really milk those points in the NL hold em tables :-)
are you smasheroo on UB?
P.S. to whoever said the no note taking alert is annoying, it isn't to me, because I keep all notes in my head.

What do you mean by playing with house money without making a deposit? Are you refering to the play money games? If you win with this house money will the winnings be real money in your account? I just created an account there to try some play money games.

Great software, but definitely not the greatest games. In the end, someone who's dependant on poker for a living will go with the site which has the best games. When I determine how good a site is I prioritize game selection.

there's another thread here called bootstrapping on UB.
I don't mean play money, I mean that UB has such an excellent UB point system, microlimit system, and freerolls that make it possible to win money without ever depositing it. Of course it takes some time and determination.

Full Tilt has the same thing. You'll probably have to beat about 600 other people, but it pays 4 spots a total of $20 ($8, $6, $4, and $2).

ok, but lets say you win one of those, what do you do with your eight dollars? is there a 1 cent 2 cent game on there? I don't think so. at UB you can play various games for pennies, allowing you to actually build on a small dollar tourney win or cash.
P.S. I've played in those full til tourneys. Full tilt is not as fast, sleek, and it's choice of games is small.

There are $0.05/0.10 games on FTP, that's pennies. Full Tilt doesn't have the traffic yet that UB or PokerStars have, but I think the site is better. Don't know where all the slow comments are coming from. To each his own I guess.
