Six teams announced today.
Not sure how I feel about it, interesting to see what fans of those teams think.
San Jose, Boston, Carolina, Minnesota, Columbus, Phoenix.
Interesting bunch of teams..Couple of struggling markets....Possible Stanley cup champ in there as well..

I think it's pretty cool. The Rangers opened in Prague a few years ago and it was exciting. It added a little extra intrigue to the beginning of the season.
I don't see why fans would be turned off by this. They still have their home opener if they want some sort of local event to celebrate the beginning of the season.

Because in 2008, I had to watch Ottawa's home game vs Pittsburgh on TV instead of at Scotiabank Place.

I read this thread title thinking "please don't be the Penguins....please...."
Whether it affects a team as far as all that travel and adjusting to the time difference or not, I'd rather not chance it. Plus, it sucks as a fan because it creates a pretty big gap between games when they return back home. I prefer not having to wait that long.

Agreed, it was cool the first time but I'd rather it not happen again for a little while.

I'm beyond tired of the whole Europe thing. They have their brand of hockey, we have ours, and an expansion or migrated franchise in Europe would be horrible, therefore what's the point?

Until they get 30 teams over there it doesn't make sense; and even then it would end up with a World Series type final (pre AL/NL inter-league games)

If it was the Kings in London, I think I'd save up to go again. I enjoyed my week in London.

Why doesn't it make sense? Remember, the NHL is a globally marketed property, especially with merchandising. And a large percentage of the best players in the world hail from Europe. Imagine if the best players were all from Canada, but the NHL played only in Europe. Wouldnt it be smart to export that product a little to a place where you know the fan base is rabid and has a stake in the players?
