I'm taking over for Gainey. I'm looking to move a goalie and maybe a player or two. Who wants to deal?

I'll trade you MacArthur, Butler and a 2nd for Halak and Bergeron.

If you want to talk about a blockbuster I'll ship you Derek Roy, Chris Butler, this year's first and next year's second for Plekanec, Bergeron and Halak or Price.

I'll give you Shawn Horcoff for a 6th round draft pick in 2010 or 2011.

I am entertaining offers for a solid 20 goal scorer who is a pending UFA. Still 29 years old. Has good size.

Looking for a draft and/or prospect..

I don't see it that way, Sekera is really only valuable as an offensive PP-type defenseman (he's horrid in his own end), but he's already been passed by Butler and Myers as a PPQB so he spends most of his time in the press box with Paetsch. Stafford has a great player in him somewhere but he won't make the effort day in and day out, if we could put Matt Ellis' heart into Drew Stafford's skillset or vice-versa you'd have a 40-40 player. As such, Stafford is signed to a 2yr deal and will probably want way more than he's worth next summer (he wanted it this past summer but was made to see reason...when he didn't get an offer sheet).

Coming back to Buffalo, we get a defenseman in Bergeron who can score goals and work the point on the PP, this will allow Lindy to stop trying to make Steve Montador a PPQB and Bergeron almost certainly wouldn't be resigned next year so it frees up cap for next year as well (Sekera is already signed for next season).

We also get Tomas Plekanec who is the Top-2 center Buffalo desperately needs, both as insurance for the inevitable Tim Connolly injury as well as a means of getting Derek Roy out of a scoring line center role which he's clearly unsuited for (he's better as a 3rd line energy guy and on the PP where he'll still get most of his points). Plekanec can win faceoffs, he's defensively responsible and he still puts up PPG numbers, all things we badly need at the center position.

ajs510
Buffalo still needs a backup goalie who can take over the crease 1 game a week down the stretch, I'd really love to see Marty Biron come back but I'd also be interested in Halak or Dan Ellis.

Aren't the guys you get essentially rentals?
I wouldnt be ready to give up on Stafford for rentals at this point. Also, I still like Sekera as a future possibility if given some time to grow. I might be overvaluing him, and Stafford, but I dont really like Buffalo's chances at resigning Plekanec.

It would definitely be a bad deal if we couldn't resign Plekanec, but the deal is centered around the idea that we can.

We'd need more than a rental to give up prospects like that...though neither of them are having particularly amazing years based solely on the stats.

I'm totally on Mrs. Serge's side of this coin, those things are hideous. If my wife ever bought one I'd burn it in front of her.

All it takes is having one neighbor or family member see the thing sitting on the couch and then you're a Snuggie Owner for life, that's a stigma that doesn't get shaken easily.

I think it's mostly the principal of the thing. I agree they're stupid, and I spend 100% of my time on the couch under a big fuzzy blanket. It's just that nobody, wife or otherwise, is going to tell me I can't get one if that's what I wanted.

Believe me, I'm totally of this mindset in my own relationship (just ask Mrs. Adam, she will 100% verify). I just completely see where she's coming from on this one point, the Snuggie is one of the 7 Seals.

I'm not single, I've been living with my girlfriend for over 3 years.

IMO, there's a problem in my relationship if me buying a Snuggie of all things makes my wife unhappy. But that's just MY opinion, and MY relationship.

Chicago offers you......

Huet, Versteeg for Price

I would think a little more from Chicago's side (ie taking on salary, 2nd rounder?) MIGHT get it done?

Zach6668
Arp, what would it really take to get Whitney from Carolina to Pittsburgh?

And give me some reads on A. Ward. Is he a solid shut down defenseman? That is really what the Penguins need, more than a winger, to be honest.

Its really hard to say what it will take for Whitney. Im a big fan of his, and believe he would really make a difference for someone, so I would hope/expect someone to overpay with a 1st rounder and/or good prospect. I think a mid level prospect and a late first rounder gets it done. I guess they pretty much want to get rid of him, but anything less than a 2nd rounder and I wouldnt even bother, unless he asked for it.

Ward is exactly who I think Pit needs. But the Ward of the '06 cup run, not the guy playing today. He has been pretty brutal to be honest. I was hoping Dev would take my offer before he did any scouting.
During that Cup run, he was VERY solid, and really stepped up. I think kinda like Scuderi for you guys last year. And he was considered a great guy in the room based on what I read. Ideal #4D, definetly not top pair, but great to have in your top 6.
Maybe being on a top team will bring it back for him........if he has anything left in the tank.
Zach6668
Yeah, he's the kinda guy I have in mind for the Pens, like you said, if he plays like he did in 06, though.

What I'm hearing about Whitney, is that he's being really stingy with his NTC, and I've heard he only wants to go to Pittsburgh (I could be making this up), or a select few teams, which would make the return a lot smaller than if he was on the open market available to everyone. I agree he'd be a fantastic piece.

If we did a trade like this, you'd probably have to take salary back, to get both guys.

Probably a Dupuis or a Fedotenko, at least. I don't think Tangradi or Caputi are necessarily top flight prospects. I don't see how they're any better than Bergfors, but I haven't watched a ton of him, and I haven't watched any Tangradi. I'm not really looking to deal a ton for a rental, obviously, but for Whitney at least, I'd like to see them work something out.

I'd take Fedotenko. Always liked him. I wouldnt mind him in Carolina's top 6/9 til others develop. I can understand Whitney not wanting to go just any team....

And yeah, I kinda agree about Caputi/Tangradi. Nice prospects to have, but not stars to be, IMO. But I would be pretty happy with either for Whitney, obv.

Zach6668
The problem is, even though they aren't superstar potential, they are still pretty much all we've got in terms of top 6ers, and that's where we're the weakest, so for a rental, there's no way we give them up. Top 6 wingers are going to need to be developed from within, with our structure down the middle.
