I really shouldn't be speaking for him, but he told me he was worried about prospective employers finding stuff he wrote years ago and holding it against him. He got rid of his Facebook account as well.

I know I would never hire a guy who thought David Rundblad was a better prospect than Thomas Hickey.

That's a special kind of paranoid IMO.

Actually it is not. It is now becoming common practice for employers to check facebook and other social media on applicants. I think it is a little crazy to do so but sadly many places are starting to do this. If they see the person has a questionable social life they pass on them. So you know if you got photo's of you drunk and partying all the time on your facebook and you don't properly use the security system in place to make it so only friends have access, then it could cost you in getting a job.

when my wife got hired by a municipal police force, they asked not only for her/our fb account, but the password as well - so certainly can see where this would become an issue. Come to think of it, we have most of you degens on ours - should have thought twice (though, they did hire her so it can't be that bad)

That is why I am not on facebook.

if a company asked me for my facebook password i would never even consider working for them.

i work for a major financial institution and security is of the utmost importance and they would never ask for something like that.

yeah I was pretty shocked to hear them ask for that as well

I also work for one, and they actually took the step of announcing that "going forward" they would not check prospective employee's social media. Seems pretty clear they were before.

Asking for passwords is a definite invasion. A "special kind of paranoid."

That is freakin awesome. Doubly awesome because that Alomar home run is a significant turning point in my life (sports-wise). I was 8-years old, watching baseball, and this is the WAMCO season. Jays have already disappointed in 89 and 91, with me being too young to remember 85. So there we are, looking like we're going to disappoint again, and with aging free agents, who knows what could've happened next year.

Alomar nailing Eckersley was just so ****ing epic. The way he puts his arms up. That made me a sports fan for life. Did 10x more for me than Carter's homer. You just knew when he put his arms up that we were winning a world series. And when an 8-year old's home team wins a World Series, well he is just hooked. That homer is why baseball is my favourite sport, even though the NHL and NFL are so much more watchable. The way you can see a guy's face, and how his motions aren't encumbered by heavy equipment (Barry Bonds excluded) just creates moments you don't find in other sports.

in 85 when the Jays lost to KC that same night Rick Vaive scored a hat trick..IN THE FIRST PERIOD..Never forget it...I was pissed, but still happy
