Holy crap, Kimmel just did the most amazing thing on late night in like the last 10 years ( including Conan's crazy xmas special from last year). He did the entire show as Jay Leno, in an absurd costume, doing a cruel and insulting impression of him the whole time, referencing the whole Leno/Conan mess. It's brilliant. Here are some clips

He apparently never broke character the entire night. God, it's good.

Seems pretty awesome. Eventually I'm going to get some working speakers so I can hear this stuff.

So did Cuthbert know that, uh, did she...god she's hot...um, did she know about this beforehand?

I really really hate this too, but to be fair, it's Canada's (or in your cause, England's) fault, not America.

Speaking of Canada. I was watching a 30 rock that I had recorded but not seen and the new guy on TGS was talking to Jenna and said "Was that sarcasm? We Canadians have a hard time detecting sarcasm do to the lack of Jews in our country" or something pretty close to that.

I laughed.

How's the British Dental Association doing?

The dude must be from Regina or something. I've lived in Montreal and Toronto and I can tell you there are as many Jews in those towns as there are running Hollywood. Maybe more.

Insert lame joke about bad British teeth here...(Sorry, was a bit of a misdirect due to my frustration at not being able to watch the Kimmel clips)

I know it's not true, just like the concept that carrots are good for the eyes.

You're still bitter about the whole revolution thing I bet.

I've rarely if ever heard somebody say, 'Oh man I wish I could watch this British thing but it's blocked here.' Because nobody watches British tv. Zing. And Canadian tv? COME ON!

Yeah, nobody watches The Office, or Peep Show, or Monty Python, or The Mighty Boosh, or Blackadder, or The IT Crowd, etc etc etc...

Frankly, The (British) Office is one of the funniest things ever made. My goddam signature is Karl Pilkington! I've never seen any of those other things, except Monty Python obviously. I love 2 other British shows: Extras, and I'm Alan Partridge.

Anyways, I don't have a strong knowledge of British television, but in my mind the average British tv show is mostly scenes of olde-timey police chasing people single-file, in fast-forward.

I would like to keep this thread from derailing into Brit TV love fest...but......

Faulty Towers was god. and dear christ Alan Partridge is savage.

but um yeah, Kimmel ended leno last night.

You know, it's funny, I've seen so many funny Kimmel bits over the years linked online, and yet I've never really watched his show. Odd. I guess people are really stubborn in terms of TV.

Don't be to hard on yourself, Frinky...it's probably not your stubbornness as much as the fact that you live in an age where you can happily just get the highlights of a mostly unfunny show.

Although it presents the spiritual paradox of having both Fawlty Towers and Jimmy Kimmel as god, I'd like to voice my agreement with this.

And I hate to be the nitpicker, but....Fawlty.

I don't see how that is strange. However, basing a show on Fantasy Football is a bit far fetched.

I had flipped to Kimmel just as his monologue started and hit record so I could go to bed.

Then I saw this thread and was excited thinking: "I have this whole show recorded and I will be able to watch this and laugh at my leisure because this is going to be good.

It did not live up to the expectations.

Chevy Chase is still uncomfortable without a writer behind him.

Cuthbert was cute/nice whatever, but quickly became tiring.

The bit rested on the lisp and "Did you hear this" Which was funny the 14th and 15th time he told it, but only mildly amusing the other 18 times.
Suited_Up
Every time he laughed at something/himself... that was gold.
LongLiveYorke
My favorite part was during headlines when he picks up a card, looks at it, laughs at it, and then says, "I should probably show you this one."

I know he used to hate Leno until he found out Carolla was hanging out with him behind his back, and they were kinda forced to hang out and became cool with each other. So I'm hoping he's always carried this disdain for Leno and decided it was time to let it go.

i heard bill simmons talking about a book called "we're dyin up here" about comedians on strike from the comedy clubs in the late 70's and he mentioned how leno was giving out strike info to the club owners and pretty much all of the comedians hated him from then on. i've put the book on my shopping list.

So, Kimmel's monologue as Jay Leno is outstanding, and the guy doing Kevin Eubanks is also pretty perfect. Here are some other clips from the episode, including the whole monologue.

Just watched the video. It's infuriating how Jay just laughs everything off and won't respond to anything. Those were some pretty witty responses by Kimmel though lol. It seemed like they were off the cuff, but I wonder if he was given any of the questions beforehand.

If it was on Leno, then its a lock that it was scripted for the entire interview
