The point of that blog was not that hawaii paid for his health care (they didn't) but that the socialist system in Hawaii has led to a quality of service that Rush is happy to have received.

well, as long as people have to pay for healthcare in Hawaii..then it's still American healthcare, not some socialist mumbo jumbo healthcare.

Exactly, I'm seeing lots of people claiming Hawaii has socialism because they have an employer mandate. That's definitely central planning and a mild form of socialism, but it's not like single payer. It's still private healthcare and private doctors. It's just at artificially inflated prices due to market distortions.

By "artificially inflated" you must mean cheapest in the nation.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/17/health/p...awaii.html?_r=1

But perhaps the most intriguing lesson from Hawaii has to do with costs. This is a state where regular milk sells for $8 a gallon, gasoline costs $3.60 a gallon and the median price of a home in 2008 was $624,000 — the second-highest in the nation. Despite this, Hawaii’s health insurance premiums are nearly tied with North Dakota for the lowest in the country, and Medicare costs per beneficiary are the nation’s lowest.

Great article by Roland Martin slamming Palin for bowing down to Rush and being a giant hypocrite

Why haven't I cottoned to Palin? Because she portrays herself as a straight-talking politician who wants to lead a movement in the "Lower 48th" -- but is nothing more than a political celebrity willing to cash every check she can grab.
What truly exposed her for me? It was the ridiculous way she reacted in opposing ways last week to two political heavyweights who used the word "retard."
When it was reported that President Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, told a group of liberals that they were "f-----g retards" for threatening to run ads against fellow Democrats who weren't jumping on the health care reform bandwagon, Palin demanded his resignation.
As the mother of a child with Down syndrome, Palin has often used her bully pulpit to demand respect for the mentally challenged. Nothing wrong with that. It is an issue that is close to her heart, and she should be a fierce advocate for them.

Yet when one of her biggest supporters, conservative radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh, also castigated liberals by calling them "retards," Palin provided him cover, even trying to explain away his comments.
In an interview with Fox News Channel's Chris Wallace, she said Limbaugh was using satire, while Emanuel was blasting those who disagree with him. But anyone who can read or listen could hear Limbaugh calling folks he disagrees with the same. Palin even went further, agreeing with Limbaugh that liberals are "kooks."

So Emanuel and Limbaugh used the word "retard" to describe folks they disagree with, but only Rahm was wrong? Yep, that's how it is in Palin's world. The advocate for the mentally challenged was quick to pounce on someone she disagrees with politically but defended her patron saint, Rush.

Sarah, when you hold yourself up as a fierce protector of the mentally challenged, politics shouldn't enter into the equation. Either you criticize everyone who uses a word that you consider a slur, or you come across as a crass politician who is afraid to offend your chief booster.

Maybe you ought to listen to your spokeswoman, Meghan Stapleton, who thought you cared about the mentally challenged when she sent this e-mail to HotAir.com about Limbaugh's comment: "Gov. Palin believes crude and demeaning name-calling at the expense of others is disrespectful."

But knowing that wouldn't sit well with Rush, you backed off and gave him cover.
If you were true to your cause, you would have demanded an on-air apology from Limbaugh and scolded him for using the word. Instead, you showed your true colors.

Sarah, I haven't bought into your fake "I'm-a-real-American" persona. You slam the president for using teleprompters, but write crib notes on your hand to remember basic beliefs that should be easy to regurgitate.
You decry the "lamestream" media, but you bask in its glory and have joined its payroll as a Fox News contributor, even having the network build a studio in your home. Talk about media elite.

You give a speech riddled with falsehoods about the president and national security, and then try to shrug them off as the "lamestream" media attacking you.

You don't fool me, even as your legion of fans considers you the second coming of President Reagan. You quit on the people who elected you to become a political celebrity, which your presidential running mate blasted then-Sen. Barack Obama for doing.

You had the opportunity to show everyone that you're willing to take on anyone who crosses the line against those who are mentally challenged, and you failed.

Please, make as much money as you can. Paraphrasing comedian Martin Lawrence, ride this train until the wheels fall off. But please, cut the crap. You're a crass politician with no true conviction. Your actions have shown that.

Why are people talking about Palin? Who cares what she says?

Also: her stances on this were awfully retarded.

Palin would've gone up in my eyes if she had reacted in one of two ways:

1. Calling out Limbaugh

or 2. Saying, "Well, they are retards."

I mean if it were up to me no one would care. But she was the keynote speaker of the Tea Party Convention and all the signs point to this Tea Party thing being around a while (not sure if that is better for Dems or GOP). And now she is on Fox News and someone writes a story about her running in 2012 once a week (with accompanying poll).

She's not going away and I would not be surprised to see her run against Obama in 2012. She is definitely super ambitious.

And, yes, I agree with Rush 100% on this.

This.

The haters/critics don't seem to get that the constant making fun of her will only make her stronger and more dangerous and keep her in the public eye. Pretty stupid tactic imo

I think she is crucified at every turn but I really don't get it. I do not hate her or care about her in any way really. I don't think she is a threat or see her as a Republican force at all. In fact she is at risk of becoming a laughing stock whether she deserves it or not and I actually think she hurts the conservative cause more than helps because she is such a lightening rod for criticism.

But that is the whole point....why??? Why light up this candle???

If the folks that hate her want to make her a non issue they need to treat her like a non issue and ignore her, just stop bringing her and/or anything she does to light.

Oh, I don't think she will be the GOP nominee. I think she will be the first plausible 3rd party candidate in a long time (which is sad because we could really use a real 3rd party not a GOP splinter faction) running as the Tea Party candidate.

And, no, she is not electable at all. But she will suck votes away from the GOP candidate. Like a reverse-Nader.
vbnautilus
Ignoring her is not going to make her go away.

But she may not run for pres, if only because she'd rather rake in the dough as a political celebrity without any responsibilities. Also, I read a poll yesterday that said over 70% think she is not qualified.

So is Obama. Amused yet?

I'm not going to defend Palin, it would make no sense for me to put a whole lot of effort in defending anyone who holds no current office. The reality is it has nothing to do with notes written on a hand, or babys out of wedlock, or hyper-faux patriotism, or anything else. The left is scared that someone who preaches her core values (that is a pro-gun anti-abortion platform) they are scared beyond belief that someone with those vocal thought processes, who connects this well with conservatives, should get a platform in any way, shape or form. That being said they are all to eager to give her said platform, I would wager that right now she can't come anywhere close to fulfilling all sit down interview requests, and I would also wager that the majority are not from conservative pushers/backers. It's pretty easy to understand the left, you want to know who they fear? Watch who they attack. The biggest fear of the left is they know for certain now that a person who has no business being in the presidency, can win the presidency, all based on what mass media does. Meanwhile, which mass media has gained the most viewership and which has lost in say, the past 18 months or so?

So, yeah, i'm amused. It's fun to watch the show.

Very few people who consider themselves part of the tea party movement would vote for Palin. She is a big government RINO, the exact type of person the tea party was looking to eliminate. Sure, there are bigger problems first, but replacing them with another Bush clone is just ensuring another shot for the big government liberals.

Look at the turnout at this supposedly national tea party convention -- I think there were more reporters than attendees. The tea party has spoken again -- and Palin is not their voice.

She wants to attack Iran, fer chrisake.

You're right, he should totally get a pass on everything that happened when he was President. The Republican congress at the time also should receive a pass.

That was caused by the Bush administration…everyone already is aware of that. Those pesky Republicans forcing banks to lend to low income consumers who really couldn’t afford it!! Oh they also caused the floods in Iowa but nobody cares about them. Those people stepped up and helped themselves so we can forget them.

Why are you worried about the Debt ceiling...we have plenty of ink and will never run out of money. Jeez I almost feel like a democrat just typing this stuff.
