I know reading 7-stud hands horrible in script...
essentially, even though my hand plays totally 1 sided is it right to be capping this pot through 5th street?
My thinking is that I'm very strong right now for the top half of the pot, and there's 3 players who all look like they are chasing low, one who seems to have 3 wheel cards. As such since these others are coming along for the ride, i want to jam the pot out the gate to get half a pot as frothy as possible?

I know the fundamental thought in stud/8 is play to scoop. This hand pretty much cannot scoop. But if you have 5 people that want to playing and you get dealt QQQ out the gate, is it not smart to be in cap mode (obv, this play is bad if the other players all fold off, but being that they show low skills and will stay in for streets worth of drawing i thought it made sense).

Meh, you never at any point have a low, you have a chance at the high pot (if seat one isn't full) but you never win the low seat 4 is probably getting that, but we face the chance of him scooping outright with a low st8.

That being said i think it is pretty nitty to fold out on 6th so we kind of commit ourselves to calling on 7th.

This hand is kind of strong enough to lose a few more bets on the late streets so it is a marginal call i guess without reads on how tight villains are

up until 5 i keep capping like you did you said it yourself you have the 3rd best high hand to start out so yes try and cap and get thin out the crowd

With regard to scooping; yes that is the primary goal. But with hi-only hand like rolled-up queens, you're looking for exactly the situation you have here, multiway with multiple villains going low.




Not much you can do, if seat one has a boat or if someone flushed it sucks but you were in a good spot here and bricked.
