Enough to put me all in at that point. Do I call? I do have AK.. but maybe he has a set or had a weak ace and hit the six. I'm not too sure on the odds. He seems to be a beginner and already hit quads before at the table along with some good hands. He seems to be running good and is playing hands which he has something 90% of the time.

Convert your hands please.

And this is like the easiest call ever. He does not have a 6, by the way.

I apologize. I will next time; I just set my hand history to be saved.

And I was thinking call to begin with. I just wanted to see what others think because of what I said at the bottom.

yah if we call the flop we are getting it in every time we hit on the turn at these blinds IMO. oh an i agree with swoly totally lots of bigish pocket pairs show up here to make this a decent positive EV IMO

think about why you floated the flop. you hit the card you wanted so put your chips in...or dont float the flop.
TrueAce13
do not open 4x plz. like...yeah, don't do that.

I prolly woulda just got it in PF but I mean, as everyone else said....you hit gin when you floated...why are we not getting it in now?

No apology necessary. As to your question I quoted here, it's irrelevant to this hand. Just because he's playing 90% of hands doesn't mean his 3betting range is wide enough to include 6x, and just because he's gotten lucky earlier in the tourney doesn't mean we change our decision making one bit.

yeah, this is def a ship preflop. i would never play AK like this with that stack size, especially 6 handed. after the flop call you have about $1300 chips left after your float, wtf is the point of that? just shooooooooooove!

Not to mention we still have fold equity against smaller pocket pairs if we shove pf.
Mercury69
Shove over top preflop. As played, you must call.
outsider13
Def shove pre!! Look at your stack. You have less than a psb left for the flop, just get it in.

As the others said, not sure what you'd wait for on that turn, especially considering you floated the flop. Were you hoping for 2 kings on the turn?

I think you're all missing this which makes it a 100% fold.
donk4life
So, did he have aces?
delved
I did push. He had pocket sixes.
SwolyswoND
Oh for the love of Christ. BBFIDTS.

Ehh.. not really a bad beat, just a bad read on what a guy was doing. Figured I'd ask you all. I've been puzzled by some very odd play lately.

Here's what you should take away from this discussion:

If you're new to poker and don't feel comfortable with post-flop decisions - raising 4-5X preflop is fine. But in this case, you should have shoved to his raise preflop. Force you opponent to make tough preflop decisions and remove the likelihood of having to make difficult postflop decisions yourself.

If you wish to improve your postflop play, reduce your preflop raises to 2.5 -3X. In this case you have position, so seeing a flop with a hand like AKs isn't terrible.

Recognize what a bad beat is. Not only did your opponent flop quads, but you managed to hit a K on the turn. Look up the percentage change of an opponent flopping quads holding a pair. It's a situation so rare, that it really shouldn't be something you worry about.

Success in poker is about making a high percentage of great decisions, while trying to force your opponents into making incorrect decisions. If you only make negative decisions when your opponents flop quads and you manage to catch on the turn, you'll have nothing to worry about.
