Speaking of which:
http://www2.scotiabankplace.com/eng/suites/hockey-suite.cfm

Suite prices range $1800 - $4250; gives you 16 tickets + 4 parking (I'm 5 minutes from the Bank for carpool ops) and credit towards catering

So....lets get on this thing. We've thrown this idea out the past couple years and nothing has happened with it. I'll start this list to hopefully get some idea of who and how many people we can get to make a SOLID commitment.

I'd be in for me +1 most likely for any price under $250/person, and would drive through Toronto and be able to take 2 others if they were on the route. Any of the Ottawa folk have any ideas/recommendations etc for hotels locally? Can someone get in touch with scotiabank place once we get this figured out and make the arrangements? Let's make this happen this season.

I've emailed them just to find out about games in Dec/Jan as well, since their website only lists the prices for Oct/Nov at this point. I see a pens game there on Nov 19 or something.... If replying with a yes, please list when is best for you, or if it matters.

I was thinking of you when I wrote my post!!

Both Liz+Casey were great, I was just needling Brent cause it said spouse+hockey road trip, usually hockey/golf trips involve just me and the guys I hang with.
You'll have to forgive me, been married 12yrs, love my wife, but the occasional break from home+responsibility is nice for me and it keeps me sane.
And my wife wouldnt want to come at all anyway!

Yeah, Im in depending on date, even if your all bringing the Mrs.

Our embrace on top of the table in the middle of the hotel lobby at 4 am in the morning meant nothing to you?

Lol I think that was me... where was YOUR spouse when that was happening?
Ottawa_Biatch
Biatch is most definitly in.

You guys can all stay at Zach's place, I think he should be given the chance.

Ray and Arp, we can have a three-way date, it'll be awesome.

I am interested depending on date..Late november early december is bad as I am going on my west coast trip...

If we get enough guys we can rent a big SUV/VAN for the trip..

Ideally it would be awesome to get a limo bus, but that might be a bit too much baller for me...
Ottawa_Biatch
Yeah sometime in the new year would be better like January/February.

As well too, there is the casino like 5 minutes away in Quebec as well!

And of course there will be a random night of degenerate gambling on random sports at a bar.

And then Zach can cook us up a feast at his place, and we can have a huge sit n go there!

Are we all willing to spend like ~$250/person here? This is shaping up to be a $4k minimum night once all is said and done.
Someone look at the sens schedule and throw out some dates/games in the new year. I already contacted them about the suites and it looks like Dec/Jan prices all go up $250 across the board.
Ottawa_Biatch
Sure man
Zach6668
Don't do it for a game I already have tickets for. Check the NHL game thread. Also, maybe I get a discount on a box since I have season ticket status.

Good general resource thread:

Accommodations:
If you are just coming to town to go to the game then best to look at a hotel in Kanata. If, however, you are looking to do the tourist thing and/or stay for more than just the game then I'd strongly suggest something more downtown.

Kanata:
1. Holiday Inn Select: Next to a big pedestrian mall + big box stores so plenty of restaurants and bars.
2. Country Inn and Suites: Other side of highways on Paladium drive itself (still, could be a long walk to Scotiabank in cold weather)

Downtown:
1. Chateau Laurier: Iconic Ottawa / Canadian hotel.. $$$
2. Lord Elgin: Iconic Ottawa hotel a bit more reasonable.
3. Arc the Hotel: High end Boutique hotel
All of these are very close to the main downtown happening areas (Byward Market/Elgin Street). There are bunches of other downtown hotels but can't really comment. Novotel/Ramada/Les Suites I think are ok
4. Hampton Inn: Brand new just east of the core. Probably more budget friendly but you'll need to drive everywhere plus a haul to the arena

Talk to me (or Fenxis) before you book a hotel, I can tell you how convenient it really is.

I live in the bar zone, so if you like drinking, get a hotel near my condo.
Ottawa_Biatch
I live in the business zone and hotel area, if you like Starbucks, contact me.

Ya, the city is crazy spread-out with so-so mass transit.. lots of options on locations, "couple-iness", etc...
Ottawa_Biatch
Updates?
MapleLeafs
Does it have to be Ottawa?

I'm just saying Pittsburgh plays in Buffalo on Sat. Dec. 19.
Ottawa_Biatch
Yah, Ottawa is the best location because we can all crash at Zach's house.
mrdannyg
I think Zach would be a good person to arrange all this.
