I just watched it. They have both endings on the DVD, and I can't decide which one I liked more. The theatrical version definitely made me jump more than any other part in the movie, but the alternate version left more of an impact. The scene you guys are talking about definitely freaked me out.
I'm kind of mad that I didn't see this in the theater with all the loud noises and the bigger screen. It definitely would have made it a lot better. On the other hand I'm glad I didn't see it in the theater because I probably would have had a heart attack.
