I saw that, sick play.. as was vince's shot to take the lead. Hell of a game.

yeah it really was. I was watching the highlights on ESPN and some jackass said 'Wade giving too much space there....you cant give him that space.'

Are you kidding? Carter hit a 27 foot fade away three! Sometimes, you just applaud the other guy and move on.

Paul Pierce didn't posterize Bosh, he discovery channelled him... gave him a Vasectomy right on the court.

Best way to keep from having your shot blocked, lead with your knee to the nuts of the shot blocker.

Eventhough the Raptors are as soft as warm butter Pierce didn't make another drive in the game. I would expect that next time the teams play if Reggie Evans is healthy that there might be a few "hard" fouls on Pierce.

Who was dirtier, Malone or stockton?

Jeez, that's like asking a girl if she would rather me donkey punch her or jelly doughnut her.

I'd say Stockton just because he was much sneakier about it.

When he was at Iowa, I thought he had all the talent and size to be a very good NBA player and just wow.. never averaged more than 6 points and he'll likely be remembered only for grabbing Chris Kaman's junk and nearly ripping it off. Embarassing.

I can honestly say, that in my lifetime, I have never EVER heard that sentence before.

"Clippers suck, Staples goes into riot"
heard that
"clippers losing, staples is empty. All the fans are at home watching the Away lakers game"
Heard that.
"Blake Griffin attemptedsuicide, Staples crys"
Heard that.

joke obv... warriors suck

Beasley Watch:

Beasley had his best game probably ever last night as Miami dumped the Blazers on the road 107-100. Beas had a season high 27 points (on high percentage shooting) and showed great aggressiveness by getting to the line 11 times. When he plays like that, Miami is dangerous. Now, he needs to bring that kind of game consistently.

I didn't see the game, but I assume it helps when you're going up against the third string power forward.

Yeah, Oden...not exactly known for his quickness.

Did you hear Wade say that the person he would most like to play with is Dwight Howard? Read anything into that?

Well, Orlando cannot afford to sign Wade unless he takes a drastic pay cut from what Miami can offer so I don't see anything more than Wade showing some respect for Howard. It is more likely he will play with Lebron than with Dwight.

It was bound to happen sometime. On a related note, I now get ESPNU. huge addition. Was able to watch Miami beat Minnesota last night to move to 8-0. Maybe the Canes can make the tourney this year.

Is there a particular part that is steaming?

Is it the Kobe over Lebron part or just the whole list in general?

The whole list. I would put Lebron #1, but that's the least of the issues.

Don't worry I am not insane enough to think any ref is going to call that on Kobe unless it is super blatant. Wade would have gotten away with it too.

Great game though. If the Heat could shoot free throws, they would have won by 8 so they only have themselves to blame. Well, themselves and Jermaine O'Neal. What a turd sandwich he is.

Ya, freethrows definitely lost that game for them.

I thought Mariah Carey looked particularly good in her Christmas outfit. I enjoyed 12 hours of her (even if the basketball games weren't that great).

I've started a little basketball betting experiment.

We all know how teams who are on the second half of back to backs when they are playing a team that didn't play the night before seem to do badly especially when they are on the road so I'm betting the point spread against them for all games where a team is on the second half of a back to back and is playing a rested team.

Last night for example the Kings were +1 vs the Nuggets and GS were +5.5 vs the Lakers and both the home dogs who were rested won outright.

I have about $13 sitting in my bet365 account so I'm only betting $1 per game for now for the experiment since I'm doing it for fun.

If it is true that teams on the second half of a back to back etc. etc., then that is already factored into the line.

I know it's factored into the line to a certain extent but the betting public may not factor it into their betting to as great a degree as they should which means the lines makers won't factor into their lines as much.

I know in the end the juice should probably eat me alive with my experiment but that's why I'm doing it for basically no money. It's just something fun to do.

That sounds like a better theory than as originally stated.

p.s. Tim Duncan made SI's all-decade team as power forward.

I don't have a problem with that since both he and Shaq should be starters on the all decade team and I prefer to think of a team as having two "bigs" anyway.

On that particular fantasy team he would be the traditional power forward.

As long as we're on the subject...

Nash
Kobe
Lebron
Duncan
Shaq

2nd team:

Kidd
Wade
Pierce
Garnett
(I forget who the center was. Maybe they put Nowitzki there?)

I'm not sure there are any real arguments here. I would swap Iverson for Pierce, but that's not caring about position.

There really isn't a second team just 7 reserves.

The reserves you missed are:
Nowitzki
Iverson
Anthony

Oh whoops. Paul stole a pass that would have led to a sure layup tonight, up 4 with 35 secs left. Frankly, it was an amazing play.

Blake Griffin out for the year.....

The Clippers Curse is officially terrifying.
Poppy_Hillis
Wouldn't it be easier for the signal of a full timeout to be two closed fists like a baseball umpire in a full count, instead of what they do now. Mike Brown just looked like he won the game for the Arizona Cardinals with a fumble return for a TD.

People are blasting Kobe, Lebron et all for not doing the dunk contest for haiti, that shaq suggested. I can't speak for lebron, and some of the younger guys, but in the Lakers-Knicks game, Kobe went up for a break away dunk, but didn't get enough air, and had to lay it up instead.. and the crowd boo'd him. Now, I'm not saying Kobe can't dunk anymore, because surely he can. I am saying ,he doesn't have the ups enough anymore to do anything but humiliate himself in a dunk contest verses elite younger athletes like Lebron.

True. And Kobe has said as much recently.

with all of Kobe's injuries it's going to be absurd if he plays in the all star game much less the slam dunk

I was surprised to recently hear that all of the all star contests are mandatory except for the dunk contest

has Kobe ever been in the dunk contest?

Ray Allen used to/can still sometimes get serious air. His ball/body control is incredible too, I always enjoy watching his 'hang in the air for longer than it takes the defenders to jump up and down' jumpers. Also this about 50 seconds in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_dnb_RoDMI

And I had the feeling the 3 point contest wasn't compulsory too?
