Season starts tomorrow night for those who don't know.

Really excited for this season!
brvheart
I am extremely unexcited for this season. The writers failed to provide a fantastic season 5 and I'm very concerned at this point that my once favorite show on TV has jumped the shark.

Of course, if the first 3 episodes are fantastic then I will be right back on board.

If you throw out (the 6 episode) season 1, I thought season 5 was by far the weakest.

Geez what a Killjoy!!

I have to admit that I did laugh less than previous seasons ... but that's not saying much because there were still a ton of laughs to be had last season. I am looking forward to awkward pregnant jokes by Michael!

I thought it was a solid episode.

this show is starting to lose me. I'll keep watching, but it certainly isn't must see tv at this point.

Watched The Office for the first time ever last night during this premier show.

Thought it was OK, but not sure what all the rage has been about. I guess since I don't really know the characters that well yet it has some good potential, but I kept seeing The 40 Year Old Virgin and The Hangover guy instead of the characters they were playing on the show.
runthemover
yea you shouldn't judge this show on this episode. it wasn't funny. getting the dvds and watching from the start will get you hooked. and then disappointed probably by this season
brvheart
The absolute pinnacle of this show was season 4 and the episode where Dwight is being timed by Jim on how much time he wastes during the day.... and then Jim starts talking to Andy about how stupid Battlestar Galactica is, in the background.
Naked_Cowboy
This thread is very strange to me, I thought last night was one of the best episodes of the show ever.
aadams_22
I thoroughly enjoyed last night's episode, although I wouldn't rank it up there with the best. The interns making fun of Michael, and Michael trying to recant his disclosure of Stanley's affair were golden. As for last season I have been re-watching it over the past week on DVD, and find it very enjoyable. Dwight's Christmas wrapped desk is still the best prank by Jim that I have seen.

it's boring to keep talking about how good a show is so we have to default to trying to tear it down by comparing it to season's past. it's the American way.

I think the Office has always been good and is still good. My favorite season was season 3 but I liked season 5 and last night's episode was hilarious.

re-watched the first ep again. It was ok. Not awful. The Andy/gay stuff was over the top and isn't close to real, but it still made me chuckle. That's the thing I've always had with the show. Most stuff is real solid, but when they cross the line of reality of what a real person would say or do, that's when it gets iffy for me. Like when Michael stole the mic and gave the toast at Phyllis' wedding and was saying all kinds of stuff and doing things...nobody in their right mind would do that.

What do you mean "your people"? Am I Moses now?

I went to a nice dinner Saturday night. That was the extent of my participation in Rosh Hashanah. I will probably go to services on Yom Kippur just so I dont break my mother's heart.

The opening from last episode was so hilarious. I could watch Andy jump into that cardboard box 100 times and still laugh.

I thought for sure they would have internet at the Mexican prison I was in...

Congrats on being a daddy!

Finally had a chance to watch the season premier. I liked it enough, it wasn't exceedingly good or bad to me. I agree that the Andy being gay bit was funny but a little overdone, but there was a real quick moment at the end of his first talking head about it where Andy gives this awkward half laugh that killed me. I think he did it at some point last season, too.

Also, the Kelly eating disorder joke was my favorite. I didn't laugh harder the entire episode than when Erin said how glad she was Kelly was eating again and Kelly enthusiastically responded, with a mouth full of cake, "Me too!"
SBriand
the opening scene was the pretty good
speedz99
I liked the cheese tray scene...not so sure about the "co-manager" thing.
Ron_Mexico
I thought this was a funny episode. Opening was very good, a little edgy and the rest was solid. Old school, Michael being uncomfortable
speedz99
I finally got around to watching the first episode of the season...the Alan Thicke joke slayed me.
dolfan
Something strange happened last night. I completely forgot to watch. Never even crossed my mind until this morning. That can't be a good sign.
aadams_22
The opening scene was hysterical. I put that on par with when Dwight asked Oscar if ever pooped a balloon when he was drug testing the entire office.
king_tanner
This episode seemed to go by really quick, and nothing was accomplished.

How long till Jim gets demoted?

Creed: "Why haven't we...."
Meredith: "We have."

They need to build up the new receptionist's character more.

I find it VERY ironic that you say this right after the episode that showed more of her and made her a larger character than any episode in the show's history.

I enjoyed the far majority of this episode. It was very good.

After the cold open with everyone vomiting I was a little worried because that seemed like another sign of them going too over the top with their jokes, but the episode was good overall. There were certain things I really liked and the only thing I wasn't a fan of was the overdone Youtube wedding aisle dancing. The idea was funny and all, but it was just a bit too much.

One thing I thought was hilarious was the callback way back to Season 2, I think, where Kevin and Dwight were lighting off fireworks out behind the office. In this episode, they were the two complaining that fireworks weren't allowed at the wedding.

We don't know any of her background or really anything about her. They are obviously trying to maybe build a relationship with her and Andy. Also, there aren't any of the weird solo interviews with her.

I don't watch this show really other than the first episode of this year and caught last nights episode, but the girl in front of the groom in the black/white polka dot thing is a friend of mine and my wifes. They always hosted awesome halloween costume parties every year.

not sure if she has much of a part regularly in this show, but it was cool to see her on facebook about this ....

I'm not saying it's funny... but if you were there and knew all the people involved you would have been laughing... and their idea was copied, on the most hyped episode, of the most hyped show, on NBC, in Fall 2009. So idiots or not: they win.

+1 for getting your marriage license at the court house.

I actually liked this episode, the intro was pretty funny but I happened to be eating dinner so that sucked.

I just watched the British Office for the 1st time.

I keep thinking that they are ripping off characters from the USA office, but it is the other way around lol. They have 2 characters who have the exact same Jim and Pam storyline. The guy even looks like Jim and makes the same facial expressions. There is also a guy who is the same as Dwight.

It is still really funny though. Ricky Gervais is awesome. The show is on Fridays at midnight on Cartoon Network. I recorded a few episodes.
Ron_Mexico
I thought this was a great episode. Funny throughout.

I love how Dwight always pulls hot ass

The first season of the US Office used fairly identical scripts to the first season of the UK Office. Things like the jello-stapler came directly from the British show. Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchant also executive produce the US Office. The British one is...amazing, but the US one has taken it way farther, since the British one ended after 12 episodes and a special. Gervais is brilliant, but Gareth Keenan also rivals Dwight Schrute for amazingness.
TheWynn
I really liked this episode. Kevin getting some more airtime was cool as well. I always like his clueless demeanor. Dwight pulling hot ass and then totally being a dick to her the next day, also his 3 wolves t-shirt was classic.

I like how the show ends with Michael going...........I don't want to ruin it for anyone that hasn't watched yet.

I'll ruin it....

...because all I could think at the end was, "I wonder how immediately the writers decided that Michael would bang Pam's mom after they decided that her parents would divorce?"

Because that was such an obvious decision that somehow I didn't see coming.

Also, the British version was outstanding.

The scenes with Gareth and the IT blowhard are just stunning. He told Gareth this story about how awesome he was at driving go-carts that might have been the best thing in the series. I actually tell that story sometimes in social situations when I feel someone is tell me a similarly awesome story.

They've turned Oscar into a real douche.
