The scenario we posed the ACORN Housing employees in Baltimore is due to the application of similar power tactics. We gave ACORN a taste of its own medicine. ACORN was alleged to be thug-like, criminal, and nefarious. This criminal behavior was evidenced by a video of Baltimore ACORN community organizers breaking the locks on foreclosed homes. Instead of railing against their radicalism, it is best to bring out this type of radicalism. Hannah Giles and I took advantage of ACORN’s regard for thug criminality by posing the most ridiculous criminal scenario we could think of and seeing if they would comply–which they did without hesitation.

Additionally, instead of focusing on foreclosure itself, which has become seemingly as politicized as abortion, we focused on crimes more difficult for the left to defend: trafficking of young helpless girls and tax evasion. The first group represents the severely disadvantaged, the second a threat to the distribution of wealth.
While manipulation or entrapment occurs when people are encouraged to do things they otherwise wouldn’t, the pre-set trap is their own. These tactics allow the viewer to see ACORN’s soul; their playing field and their morality, out in the open. Their system is based on conflict and change for its own sake. This system is based on totalitarian principles and class war techniques. These people understand pressure, power and self-interest. When the Baltimore employees saw we were shady dealers, their instincts clicked in, as we were prime recruits.

ACORN has ascended. They elect our politicians and receive billions in tax money. Their world is a revolutionary, socialistic, atheistic world, where all means are justifiable. And they create chaos, again, for it’s own sake. It is time for us to be studying and applying their tactics, many of which are ideologically neutral. It is time, as Hannah said as we walked out of the ACORN facility, for conservative activists to “create chaos for glory.”

So Fox News runs a story about ACORN. Seems they decided that part of their job is to offer financial advice to prostitutes and pimps to help them shelter their income from the IRS.

Okay, that's weird, what is ACORN doing helping people lie to the IRS, and what about the whole prostitution is illegal thing?

Now I don't think this means Obama is connected at all. I don't have any doubt he is completely free from any connection here. His involvement with ACORN was what it was, and nothing more thaqn a politician getting fre labor votes and money...thye would all hook thier horses up to that mule wagon given a chance. I don't fault him and if ACORN goes down it has nothing to do with Obama at all. Any loose connection during the election was just that, a loose connection.

But for some reason NONE of the other news organizations felt that showing the video of the ACRON workers flat out helping a 'pimp' cheat on his taxes.

Turns out this was a dude who wanted to 'out' them, playing the pimp etc. Which was a really wierd thing to me. I mean if you want to 'out' something like ACORN, would dressing up like a pimp and asking for help to defraud the government be your first thought of a good story to get em with?

But back to the leftist news, they decided that this story wasn't worth showing, way too much other news out there like ...well there's something going on somewhere that's a bigger story than this.

Now to be fair, CNN did talk about the video. In their commentary they repeatedly said the alleged advice to defraud teh IRS etc. which I guess makes sense if you don't believe your own eyes and ears. Of course had they shown the video, that they had, maybe they would have realized how stupid they sounded, but it is CNN, the lowest watched news station next to MSNBC.

Now to be fair...they did fire both these workers.

I don't know if they fired the workers at the other ACORN office that did the exact same thing.

Yea, it happened twice apparently

And last time they had a little scandel was when one of the leaders stole a million dollars. He was reprimanded and forced to pay back the money, $30,000 a year at a time. By the way, he was kept on payroll, and paid $38,000 a year until the story broke, then an anyonmous donater gave them $800,000 to pay back the money he stole and I guess he got to keep his money that he stole fair and square from an orginization that has gotten over $50 million from the government so far.

Also, they went to like eight different cities with this ruse -- were rejected everywhere -- until they finally found a worker who gave them some juicy footage.

Not much to do with ACORN really, but a couple of pretty peculiar people working there.

edit: ok maybe 8 was an exaggeration

The conservative filmmakers unsuccessfully attempted similar ruses at the group's offices in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Los Angeles, California, and New York, Levenson said.

So they tried it 7 times, and they got tax evading advise twice...

Not sure if that gives them any kind of a pass here. they were posing as a pimp and a prostitute looking for tax advice. How wacked out can you be and still get illegal advice 2/7 times?

interesting take on this:

So when the Swiss and other countries turn over the names of everyone who is tax evading and the ensuing investigations put half of the republican party behind bars we can count on you to make a post about it right? Right?

Pimps and prostitutes can't afford to hire real lawyers to explain to them how to evade. Don't be hating on the poor.

They certainly kept quiet about the Holocaust! I think we can trust them!

This is an organization that stands to receive more than 4 billion taxpayer dollars from the stimulus package.

Senate votes to deny funds to ACORN

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Senate voted Monday to block the Housing and Urban Development Department from giving grants to ACORN, a community organization under fire in several voter-registration fraud cases.

The 83-7 vote would deny housing and community grant funding to ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

I seriously can't believe there hasn't been a huge uproar over them running the census. awful.

I guess it took a hot college co-ed to finally take them down.

well the senate cut off their funding so that is pretty much an uproar in my book. They are well on their way to not existing.

I actually was amused at the idea of a group helping people set up a prostitution business for tax purposes (because our prostitution laws are ****ing retarded.....something lost in this debate) but then they did not even bat an eye when underage prostitution was brought up and that is just not cool on many levels.

It was actually really smart of those kids to take the whole 'business model' to that level... a level that no one in their right mind would be comfortable with.

I think they had to.....without that part I would have just been laughing. Not immediately calling the police when you are being told about a child prostitution ring is evil.

But ACRON showed it's true colors when it only helped the child prostitution pimp 3 out of 8 times.

Yea..they revealed another tape from another location.

Don Wade and Roma morning hosts on WLS AM Chicago,

they had Charlie Gibson on as their usual Tuesday morning guest. Don asked Charlie, why, after the senate last night voted to halt funding to ACORN and after three of those video tapes of ACORN employees helping the pimp and prostitute set up shop, there was no mention of it anywhere on the network news. Charlie gave out a most uncomfortable laugh and said that that was the first he heard of it!

Don and Roma pointed out that ABC’s Jake Tapper reported on the Census Bureau’s decision to drop ACORN from its data collection partnerships on Friday as a result of BigGovernment.com’s video stings.

Gibson also admitted to Don and Roma that he didn’t know about the Senate vote to de-fund ACORN.

Here’s a transcript:

Don: Okay, here’s my news question. A Senate bill yesterday passes, cutting off funds to this group called ACORN. Now, we got that bill passed and we have the embarrassing video of ACORN staffers giving tax advice on how to set up a brothel with 13-year-old hookers. It has everything you could want – corruption and sleazy action at tax-funded organizations and it’s got government ties. But nobody’s covering that story. Why?

Gibson: HAHAHAHAHA. HEHEHE. I didn’t even know about it. Um. So, you’ve got me at a loss. I don’t know. Uh. Uh. But my goodness, if it’s got everything including sleaziness in it, we should talk about it this morning.

Roma: This is the American way!

Gibson: Or maybe this is just one you leave to the cables.

Roma: Well, I think this is a huge issue because there’s so much funding that goes into this organization…

Gibson: I know we’ve done some stories about ACORN before, but this one I don’t know about…

Roma: Jake Tapper did some blogging on it. I know he’s blogged at least once on this scandal.

Gibson: You guys are uh really up on the website.

Also Noted -

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said yesterday she is clueless about an amendment to prohibit government funds for embattled ACORN, although it overwhelmingly passed the Senate Monday and the White House is calling for the group to be held accountable.

“I don’t even know what they passed,” Pelosi told The Post yesterday. “What did they do? They defunded it?”

Two Cheers for Andrew Breitbart
Sometimes it takes an outsider to show the press corps the way.
By Jack Shafer

(excerpts)

Last week, thanks to the sponsorship of Andrew Breitbart's new site BigGovernment.com, self-described activist filmmaker James O'Keefe, 25, and his colleague Hannah Giles, 20, brought national scrutiny to the progressive Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, with a series of guerilla videos that are one part 60 Minutes, two parts Punk'd, three parts Ali G, and four parts Michael Moore, all bubbling under a whipped topping of yellow journalism.

If you're late to the story, Andrew Breitbart is a conservative author, columnist, Web entrepreneur, and Matt Drudge protégé. Lately, he has distributed a series of videos made by O'Keefe and Giles in which the duo visits various ACORN offices with a hidden camera, pretending to be a pimp and prostitute seeking advice on setting up a brothel. ACORN workers in Baltimore; Washington, D.C.; San Diego; San Bernardino, Calif; and Brooklyn, N.Y., took the bait, and now ACORN is on the run, firing underlings, making excuses, and responding to charges of mismanagement and fraud. On Capitol Hill, Congress is getting ready to defund the organization, which has taken in at least $53 million in federal money since 1994.

...

If you think Breitbart has corrupted the press, then you probably think he's done the same to the U.S. Census Bureau and the Internal Revenue Service, too. Today's (Sept. 23) Washington Post reports that the bureau, citing a lack of confidence in ACORN, has dumped the organization as a partner in the 2010 count, and just coming over the wires is news that the IRS has dismissed ACORN from its volunteer tax-assistance program. Next to shed ACORN will be oak trees everywhere. You read it here first.

It doesn't matter if the news isn't covering it because it is all over the internet. I actually found out about it through facebook. I don't think we should be funding a program that is providing this type of advise, but I think they should just install more regulations over ACORN.
