Other sports boards have these and I use them all the time and figured we should have one as well. Post up your drafts, trades, etc for comments and advice.
Took my first yahoo draft this morning, gotta get a couple in before Adams league just to get a feel. Fairly happy with my team. 12 person league, 2 C's, 2 RW's, 2 LW's, 4 D, 2 G, 4 BNCH.
Scoring is standard G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SOG, W, GAA, S%, SO.
1. (4) Zach Parise LW
2. (21) Dion Phaneuf D
3. (28) Eric Staal C
4. (45) Chris Osgood G
5. (52) Shea Weber D
6. (69) David Booth LW
7. (76) Phil Kessel RW
8. (93) Andrei Markov D
9. (100) John Tavares C
10. (117) Chris Mason G
11. (124) Jaroslav Spacek D
12. (141) Ales Hemsky RW
13. (148) Victor Hedman D
14. (165) Ryane Clowe LW
15. (172) Brooks Laich C
16. (189) Mikhail Grabovski C
Ton of good talent left untouched so I should be moving and shaking things as the season nears.

Parise 4th overall seems like an interesting pick... Lemaire is back coaching the Devils, and we know he hates offense.

That was actually the yahoos pick since I forgot I had the draft and didn't get in until about 4 picks before my 2nd.
First round went like this though...
1. Alexander Ovechkin
2. Evgeni Malkin
3. Sidney Crosby
4. Zach Parise
5. Roberto Luongo
6. Ryan Getzlaf
7. Mike Green
8. Jarome Iginla
9. Evgeni Nabokov
10. Corey Perry
11. Vincent Lecavalier
12. Pavel Datsyuk
Being the homer I am I would have taken Pavel at 4.

#4 is the worst place to pick.
IMO, there are three players better then everybody else in the league, then there's the rest.

I will argue this a bit...In a pool like the AHL where goals matter more. Crosby's value shouldnt be anywhere close to Ovechkin's.
As a matter of fact there were 20 guys with more goals.
Guys like Parise, Kovalchuk had better overall numbers. As well a healthy Hossa and Gaborik would be more valuable. IMO..
If you are a plus minus guy Crosby's plus 3 isnt anywhere close to the other top guys.
Is Crosby one of the top 3 players in the league, for sure. Is he a top 3 fantasy guy, not close.

your right, but we werent talking about an AHL style pool, ie assissts worth only half a point.
Different pools, different players. It was just the 3 best players in the league to take in a pool comment. I guess I just assumed straight pts.
In Steve's setup for example, a good case can be made for a player like Datsyuk, a very good +/- guy, as a solid 4th.
The reason why Parise goes 4th in that pool is because he had a sick year in +/- in that format. I wouldnt take him 4th, but I get the computerized ranking to some degree.

it could be possible statistically if Little doesnt pan out to his potential, but his upside is the biggest difference between these two.
I think Peverley showed that, given the right circumstance that, he can produce. But Little has a bigger upside for sure, as Zach pointed out.
Peverley reminds me of another player who was discarded on waivers.....SSullivan, who went to seasons of 30goals and point per game status. Always underrated.
And if ANYONE on this forum should know about quality players who go on waivers, it should be you Steve.

I was just curious to see if my line of thinking was right. I was not under the impression that Rich was the next up and coming 30/30 guy. Interestingly ESPN has him being a 60 point guy next season but hockey news has him much much lower, like 12G 20A. I tend to agree with THN and not ESPN. Glad I turned that trade down.

Aaron Rome won me a pool, I kid you not. Last day of the year, 07-08 season I believe, he got like 30pims in 1 game. Only played 4 games all year.
Difference between 1st/2nd place was $3000. He remains one of my favourite players of all time!

The same group has one for baseball and one for hockey.
Id certainly push for you John, but problem is, the pool actually has monthly meetings at local sports bars to encourage trading/comraderie, and there are fines for not coming. I dont think the guys who run it will be open to out-of-towners. Sorry.
Serge, your interest was also noted, I will definetly keep your name on the forefront with them. But do note the above, it is a very different league! Good group of guys, but some funny rules here and there.
