Bobby Ryan getting demoted is like the best thing EVER for me! I already have a sick group of forwards and don't need him to score, but this is a contract year and I'll get to sign him really cheap woooot!

The deadline for sending players back to the farm just passed, and four Cheap Thieves made the cut and will be on the team for their rookie season:
Bobby Ryan, ANA. $2.00 Age 22 NHL Draft Pos: 1st rd 2nd 2005 (drafted by Cheap Thieves in 2005)- Ryan led all NHL rookies last season in points despite starting out in the minors and is looking to win the AHL rookie of the year award this season. He started out slowly, being demoted from the top line in Anaheim, but recently had a breakout game and looks to be on track.
T.J. Oshie, STL. $1.00 Age 22 NHL Draft Pos: 1st rd 24th 2005 (drafted by Cheap Thieves in 2005)- Oshie currently had an emergency appendectomy but should be back in action next week. Oshie is an exciting prospect that often dominates a game, but started off slowly in his sophomore season. Nonetheless, Oshie is a lock to be awarded a 5 year contract from the team at season's end.
Nicklas Bergfors, NJ. $0.50 Age 22 NHL Draft Pos: 1st rd 23rd 2005 (drafted by Cheap Thieves in 2005)- Bergfors could be a key member of the Cheap Thieves because of his relatively inexpensive salary. The team is stacked with high end forwards and Bergfors represents that cheap contract with upside kind of player who could score 60+ points in the NHL. Bergfors wasn't expected to make the Thieves this season, but impressed coaches and is getting PP time in New Jersey.
Taylor Chorney, EDM. $0.25 Age 22 NHL Draft Pos: 2nd rd 36th 2005 (drafted by Cheap Thieves in 2007)- Chorney was overlooked in 2005, 2006, and fell to the 5th round in 2007 where the Thieves nabbed the d-man. He isn't expected to produce much offensively this season, but the Thieves needed bodies on the back end and Chorney won the job in Edmonton and is playing regularly. His future with the team is undetermined, but he likely won't even qualify for a multi-year contract.
MISSING THE CUT:
Jack Skille, CHI. $1.50 Age 22 NHL Draft Pos: 1st rd 7th 2005 (drafted by Cheap Thieves in 2005)- Much like Bobby Ryan last season, Skille is a victim of the numbers game as the Blackhawks are flirting with salary cap trouble. Skille has proven he can perform at the NHL level and will eventually get his chance, however, in the meantime he is being shuffled back and forth from the minors to the NHL.
Benoit Pouliot, MIN. $2.00 Age 22 NHL Draft Pos: 1st rd 4th 2005 (drafted by Cheap Thieves in 2005)- Pouliot has been a huge disappointment after being a 1st round pick in 2005, a draft class that essentially built the strength of this Cheap Thieves team. Pouliot's passion and work ethic have been questioned, and he will not get a call up until he can show more consistency at the NHL level. His future with the team is undetermined.

Me winning the division is the closet thing to a lock that you are going to find. As for me "panicking" unlike your team I actually have assets available for trade to make my current team even sicker than it already is.

What a sick part of the schedule for Thieves goaltending. Coming into this week, 3 of the last 6 games I played with NO goalies. I just did my lineups this week, and I start Monday and Thursday with back to back NO goalie games! The good news is, for the playoffs, I have goalies every game... that, plus my forwards rock the house.
Zach6668

There's that, and the fact that you can score 7.5 from your forwards and defense every night. That'll help you overcome this stretch.

Benoit Pouliot Finally Gets His Wish:
Pouliot was drafted 4th overall in 22005, ahead of stalwarts like Thieves teammate Anze Kopitar and he's not been able to make it happen at the NHL level. Yesterday he was given a new opportunity which has to be a blessing, as he'll move to hockey hotbed Montreal in exchange for Guillame Latandresse who's also struggled. The whole Canadiens team has struggled, and the Thieves already have Andrei Kostitsyn in the mix in Montreal, but he is off to a brutal start as well. Here's hoping for a miraculous resurgence and an opportunity to see Pouliot and Kostitsyn both playing for the Thieves soon, much like their other one-two punch, Bobby Ryan and Corey Perry in Anahiem.

Blueline is decimated by injuries which has prompted GM Negreanu to start looking for help on the trading block. Several offers were sent out today and we expect to have some deals to report very soon. These deals could put this Thieves team over the top by addressing the teams one weakness, depth on defense.

Wade Redden Returns Home... Yet Again!
Many moons ago Wade Redden was a waiver wire pick up by a young, upstart GM in Cheap Thieves land, Daniel Negreanu. Somewhere along the long, the Thieves made a blockbuster deal moving Redden to the Swackers for $13 in cash an some draft picks. Somehow Redden ended up in a Thieves uniform again, and this time went to the Swackers in return for a young swede by the name of Henrik Sedin. Or something like that, lol.
The Thieves sent Underdogs 3rd round pick along with 0.50 for the injured rearguard. The move is designed to add depth to a blueline that is suffering through injuries. Redden, while hurt, should return to the lineup in about a week or so. Redden is no longer a top tier d-man, but he should help on short game nights where the team is thin.
Swacker Dave
Saturday, November 28th, 2009, 9:24 AM
Maybe I'm getting senile in my old age but I am 99.9% sure he's only been a Swacker once. We really need to find out who the other GM was. I can handle trading Sedin for him when he was producing, but not being someone who paid $13 for him! Will the unlucky $13 GM please show his face... line up for the firing squad!

Kinda funny, but after observing your plethora of no goalie games, I drafted my December lineups, and found my first one to be on December 7th. In a recent trade, 4th round draft pick Philippe Paradis has been traded from Carolina to Toronto. Not sure how I feel about that exactly, we shall see.
In other news, how would you like to face this lineup tonight:
1. Corey Perry, ANA. OT
2. Bobby Ryan, ANA.
3. Anze Kopitar, LA.
4. Alexander Semin, WAS.
5. Henrik Sedin, VAN.
6. Olli Jokinen, CAL.
7. Alex Goligoski, PIT.
8. Scott Niedermayer, ANA.
9. John-Michael Liles, COL.
10. Kris Russell, CLB.
