I think the fuss about finding the next immunity idol in the preview is a diversion -- it's not going to make much difference this next week. Right now it's 5-5, and unlikely to change. If the primary target gets immunity -- either through the idol or by winning immunity -- there are still 4 more targets for the other group.

Team Russel has an advantage, in that they have Shanbo as a mole, so they know who is going, and the Team Laura thinks they have no reason to strategize. So they will pick Russell to vote out. But Team Russell knows it will be 5-5, and will have to assume a fire-starting challenge. I am counting on Russell to use his brain to override his hatred of Laura and instead pick the least competent fire starter -- probably Monica. So, unless immunity screws up plans, look for Russell vs Monica in a fire starting challenge.

I don't necessarily agree with this. I think Shambo might stick with her original tribe, it sounds like she just wants them to vote Russel out last out of the 4.

Obviously it would be smart for Shambo to vote with Russel the rest of the way, but who knows what she is really thinking? No way that it is for sure 5-5 right now though.

Ok, since nobody mentioned it, I will. I get that Russell has used a common hatred of Laura to cement his relationship with Shambo, but once she won immunity, why target Kelly? Really?

She is stronger than Monica in comparison, but if you're going to use an idol and blindside someone of your choosing, why not take out someone a little stronger like John, Dave, or Brett? Or is Shambo still under the impression that she's only an outcast with the ladies (Monica, Laura, Kelly) and is still good with the guys so she was only targeting the women?

Dave, Brett, and John maybe stronger than the girls, but they haven't shown me anything in individual immunities, they haven't really shown me that much strategically either. I think the Monica, Laura, Kelly trio were strategically stronger than the guys. So I think Kelly was the perfect vote.

At this point in the game and with the types of contestants that are left, wits are more important than brawn.

I've never seen anyone look so adorable killing a rat than Natalie.

That's my girl !! And I gotta say, thank god for this thread.. I went to work today and got a lot of blank stares when I mentioned Russel. I hate work !!

All this hate for my gal Laura - she's saved her butt twice now winning immunity. Came from behind to sneak past Russell and then she came from behind to figure out the puzzle. I thought it was great when Russell was muttering how to win at the puzzle as Shambo/Mick were messing it up.

They could have voted out Nathalie like Monica and the other guy mentioned - Nat would be gone. I don't think Russell gives the immunity idol to Nat as it would be just too risky to get blindsided even if Shambo told him what was going on.

I don't know if that was the smartest move by John. There had to be a way to If he'd gone with the plan. Worst case scenario would have been a tie and NOT drawing a rock. And he would have maintained loyalty and making the final 5.

Now he has sold out his loyalty to a bunch of guys he CANNOT trust.

Kind of a Stupid move for a smart guy.
bleacherbum3
Finally, Laura out. Nice episode.

Russell finding the idol - simply standard at this point. People have got to be scared to death to vote for him now.

Old tribes shouldn't have too much to do with the future of this game now. Russell just doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to take his old 4 Foa Foa plus Shambo and be content to roll to final 5. Maybe for a couple more weeks, but he's totally planning a complete game. Not sure what to make of his talk with John about giving him a Foa Foa next week. I can't really see him turning on Mick, Jaison maybe but still doubtful.

If I'm Russell, I would probably target a strong guy next, like Brett or maybe even John. He could possibly keep the peace with old Galu. They know John switched the vote and may just turn on him.

Crazy game now. Anything could happen. It'll be interesting to see which smaller alliances are really the tightest. In a perfect game, I think Russell would like to get to the end with Shambo or Natalie. How could you not vote him the winner then?

Dave is tight with Brett but as John explained their gameplay sucks at times. And they're really outnumbered now.

Not enough women left for a all-girl alliance plus Shambo doesn't really like Monica either.

Natalie and Monica are becoming closer though and could both be a dangerous threat to go deep because neither is thought of as a threat.

Mick and Jaison are suddenly just coasting along in the game. Are they really in a tight alliance with Russell, will they make a move on him, or will Russell eventually dump them?

Final thought: So they started the jury at the merge with 12 left. Guess this means they're going back to a final 3 with a 9-person jury?
hblask
Once again, Russel proves he owns this game. Someone else looked in the right spot, he knew it, and he managed to lose them and come back to it. Amazing.

I think John made the right move by switching. At this point, with things messed up, a winning strategy is "one more week". It was either definitely Laura or possibly him. Choose one more week. Where he goes from here is not clear, but he otherwise he had a 50/50 chance to have no options. This way.... well, who knows, it's clearly in flux.

I can't believe previews showed Shanbo being a leader.... it's gotta be fake. Nobody would put their fate in her hands.

I'm not sure who has an upper hand here, but John and Natalie seem to be the only competitors to Russell. Everyone else is hoping to coast to the end, I think, but that doesn't win it. If I had to pick a final three, I'd guess those three -- Russell, Natalie, John.

EDIT: On second thought, I'm not sure Russell would bring either of those two... he may not have a choice, of course, but they are his only threats.
Governator
This season has definitely been the best in recent memory but it's only thanks to Russel. If he was eliminated 2 weeks ago this season would've just falled to the wasteside.

He made 2 huuuuge moves last night; #1 of course finding his 3rd idol (the way he tricked dave by out running him in circles was fantastic) and #2 Somehow convincing John to switch tribes.

I think Galu made a big mistake by using John as bait without telling him. I think that's the only logical reason John would've switched tribes. He was pissed, didn't trust his alliance and would rather try to team up with the strongest player in the game.

John's problem is Russel is pretty tight with his group and the players he already has are very strong physically. Mick, Russel, Natalie are the strongest physical players in the game. They have the numbers now so their plan should be to start picking off the strongest players that's left and that includes John imo.

Next week's previews look like kind of meh. I don't think it's in Russel's best interest to let a chicken out and play the blame game. He's already got the power with the numbers, he doesn't need to mix things up as that will only hurt him.
dna4ever
I wanna make love to this season. Soooo goood. My wife and I were clapping and celebrating like we just won a major award (leg lamp) when John switched his vote.

I think my guy is going to be on the chopping block soon. Russell has to be careful at this point as well cause they are going to go for him soon. I hope Russell wins this entire thing, the dude is one of the most entertaining and best players in Survivor history.

but Sham is dumb enough to think she can control the remaining 5 members of her tribe (or they could easily convincer she can) and throw the whole thing for a loop. So his numbers can disappear.

I think Shambo is getting the boot the boot next week, the way things look. Jaison tells here that yeah they're with her, but pretty sure Jaison is just trying to throw her off. Also have watched the last 3 Ponderosa EPs, Eric is still pissed. loooool I mean, I know it shows in the show, but on Ponderosa when he starts questioning Laura about it. Also if Shambo does get the boot next week, I think Ponderosa will be extra interesting with Shambo and Laura.

I don't see why Russel would want Shambo gone at all at this stage, infact they should do everything to keep her. She's no threat at all! At this stage in the game get rid of the power players who aren't in your alliance.

Hate to see it happen but I'd say Dave or Brett should be on the chopping block next week. Monica & Shambo are no threats to anyone, get rid of the guys who will prevent you from winning individual immunity imo.

Not saying that's what I would do, saying that I see them voting off Shambo, 2 different things. And have you not seen a bigger group of idiots this year, other than Russell? Foa-Foa just lays around doing nothing, just waiting for challenges and for Russell to lead them on who to vote out. They don't do any real strategizing until right before tribal council. And Galu tried to setup John unknowingly and which is the main reason why John switched his vote.

It's very possible that Jaison and Co. think they have either Monica or John on their side, so they vote off Shambo.

Also previews are always misleading in some way. The preview for last week was showing Jaison and him saying that they need to vote off Russell, but they didn't show the whole clip in which the strategy was to get Galu to vote for Russell. So the preview for next week is showing Jaison telling Shambo that they trust her and they have or back or whatever. I just think there is something else behind that clip that we're not shown.

ya im assuming the plan is to get everyone to vote for russell, so he uses the idol and they get another galu off. though i don't think thats very bright since they have numbers and russell can hold onto the idol for a while.

also LOL at galus only defense to russell in the game is to chase him around and follow him so he cant find another idol and STILL fail hof

Not much to say after this episode except WOW!!!

If I'm in Russel's alliance right now, at this point all I'm thinking is how do I get Russel out? If they let him get too far he is obviously going to win.

It looks like Russell and Natalie are closer than I thought.

I also think it's totally hilarious that Russell is almost perfect at playing the game, but then he just can't help stroking his own ego. Why the hell would he tell Mick how much he made last year? ridiculous. He just loves himself so much that he can't help but tell people about it. Found another idol? Quick... brag about to everyone.

lol.. Russel runs the show again.

Regarding previews for next week....

I think Mick should be thinking of a way to get rid of Russel, but I think next week is too early and it wouldn't be advantageous to him in the long run. At this point he needs to be thinking of a for sure final 3 strategy and he is going to need to bring a Galu with him to the final 3 in order to win. If I were him and Jaison I would be talking with 2 out of the 3 of Monica, Brett, and Dave to go against Russel, Natalie, and Shambo.

So I think the best strategy for Mick is to try to get Dave out next week... side with Jaison, Monica, and Brett.... and blindside Russel the week after next. Russel is capable of anything though, so any plan to blindside him is going to be difficult.

I totally disagree with that strategy. Mick has to stick with Jaison, Natalie and Russell. It is only until they get to final 4 that he should get Russell out. Russell has done poorly in challenges and it doesn't look like Jaison is that strong, so I expect for Mick to win a few individual immunity challenges. They need to get rid of Galu first, that is Mick's best chance, imo. Jaison should follow the same strat. If Mick flips and gets Brett and Monica to go with him, who's to say they won't flip on him? He's better off riding the coattails of Russel and then voting him off in final four.
dna4ever
shew! Thank you Russell for slipping your lip with John else my Danger Dave was Bye Bye!

Appears Danger Dave will be gone next week unless something weird happens or he gets immunity (which is possible!)
gobears
Jaison had a good point about not pissing off Shambo - let her think that she's running the show. I loved her expression when she found out her clairvoyant powers had failed her.

Since I have no horse left, I'm pulling for Nathalie. She came in 3rd in the immunity challenge as only Jaison (who had the advantage) and Dave outlasted her. If she can get rid of Russell, then she'd have quite a few votes at the final tribal council if she gets that far.
brvheart
Natalie is totally awesome. That chick is going to make someone a nice wife.

Also, Jaison was definitely right about Shambo. It was crazy not to tell her. Russell could have easily fixed it with her by just letting her know.
Governator
Since Russell slipped the news to John that he had the idol it made sense to get rid of him but I'm totally confused why on earth Shambo was not involved in their conversation of who's going home. I understand she wanted Dave gone, but it makes no sense at all not to discuss it with her. Russel had her complete trust up to that point and that's tough to get from anyone in the game. Now that's gone and everyone is going to start scrambling for numbers again soon.

I think Mick needs to think more about playing to win rather than playing to make it to the end. Even if he did make it to the final 4 and knocked out Russel in 4th, I don't see him beating Natalie, and it would be a toss-up with Jaison. Also, I'm pretty sure Russel's strategy is to get rid of Mick before they get to 4.

At this point Brett and Monica are in the minority and they almost have to try to align themselves with a Foa Foa member, I don't think they would flip on Mick if he came to them with a plan to get out Russel, Natalie, and Shambo. There would be no point in flipping because Brett and Monica can't win the game against any of those 3... even Shambo.

If Mick was able to blindside Russel... along with winning a few immunities, I can see a lot of the jury voting for him in the end even if there is a Galu tribe member with him at the end.
