Yeah I thought that was a little dumb as well plus they've upset their leader a bit.

I didn't see the very end where they show the voting. Were Yas and Russell the only 2 Monica votes?

Russel voted for Yaz, so I guess he wasnt too mad. The other monica vote was shambo.

Um... no. Yaz is a flaming bitch and there is absolutely no chance that she has enough self-control to keep her mouth shut. You could even make a survivor where all she would have to do, to get the million bucks, is not respond negatively to anyone while living with 19 other people for 39 days. I would bet my life savings that she wouldn't be able to do it.
dna4ever
HEY!!! Did you guys see my guy this time!??!?!?!? WOOOOO! Danger Dave!!!! Way to win the challenge. You are one weird dude, but I like my chances with you as well as anyone at this point from what I've seen of you!
Mercury69
Hoo boy...didn't see Monica getting put in a trouble spot so early. Did she dodge a bullet or what?

Yaz was a poison pill waiting to happen (the bizarro universe Ben?) and I think her uppity nature caused Russel to swing his vote, but I'm really not sure why Russell got all tribal leader prior to council. So bizarre to make such a strong case and then completely turn around and go the other way...

That being said, Monica better perform better in the challenges or at least step it up at camp. She is defintely on the bubble if they go to council again, regardless...

And, yes, I'm happy Foa Foa finally got the challenge monkey off their back. Things got a little more interesting in this episode.

I was thinking more of her strategy of doing nothing around camp because it would put a target on her back. That was not a good strategy.

Though I'm still sure Russell wanted Monica out instead, that was smart of him not to stir anything up once he knew the majority was going to bounce Yas.

It absolutely had to be a diplomatic move, although it still looked silly with all the pre-vote posturing about "kicking some ass". At the same time, I don't know if anyone else on either tribe realises it, but I think the "leader" can be deposed at any time. I don't recall any conditions being laid out about removing a leader, so if one of the leaders tries to force the issue, it'd be easy for someone to say "OK, you're not leader any more"

I'm more impressed with Crazy Russell, he really can back up all the big talk. He seems to have such a great feel for the game. He knows who is a threat, who has him figured out. If he wasn't on such a crappy tribe (partly his doing), he'd be a real threat to win.

The producers are playing up the 'Shanbo is unpopular, the other tribe lover her' thing a bit too much, it's got to come into play here soon. If she just gets voted off, it will be really stupid. A tribe switch? Is she going to get through on a miracle? Or are they just making drama out of nothing?

Bet they wish they had worked on those roof a little more during the days leading up to this.....

Well to be fair Shambo has really been the only interesting thing to talk about on the purple tribe. Afterall she's lost a chicken, broke the fishing gear, been sent to the other island twice, and has had 2 hidden immunity idol clues which for some reason she's had to tell EVERYONE (idiot). She's been a complete failure as I predicted. The only reason she's in this game still is because the rest of her tribe are good at winning.

Ever since he burned socks and poured out water he has done nothing to make the tribe crappy. He tries in every challenge and votes off everyone who gets in his way. I don't think he is crazy at all, so far he is the best player and it isn't even close.

Lol at the editing making it seem like tribal council was going to be random votes. Obviously everyone got together at one point and the consensus was to get rid of Ashley. I can't believe she couldn't finish the shit smoothie, there was barely anything left in her cup.

Shambo and (black) Russel are on the purple tribe outs I think. Danger Dave better watch his mouth. Just shutup and start the fire so everyone can eat BBQ.

I'm suprised we haven't heard "drop your buffs" yet.

I don't know why Jaison has told everyone he was on the USA water polo national team. I wouldn't want to go up against him in individual challenges.

I think with or without a talk of who should go home, it seemed pretty clear that Ashley had to have been the only choice. She failed at the last 2 challenges where Elizabeth did an incredible job at both.

Elizabeth could be a real threat in this game imo. She seems to be one of the smartest girls in the game this season.

Was anyone else disappointed in the eating challenge? I mean 9/10 finish their foods no problem at all, infact just about all 10 did. I think having to eat a dead spider is 10x worse.

The fact it was blended made it easier.

I remember when I did the Fear Factor food challenge they blended together curdled milk, fish guts, fish eyes, some sort of nasty meat, live worms, etc etc and blended it into a nasty shake and I was the first one finished; its all mind over matter. And I am a guy that is the pickiest eater in the world, I mean I wont put mayonnaise or mustard on things cause I think its grosse.

I agree, he needs to tone down the power ego. Danger Dave didn't want to do the fire because Russell is so determined to be the leader. Not to mention I thought it was a bit rude to send Shambo off the island a second time. They sat out 3 ppl, why wouldn't someone who sat out have to go. Shambo drank the nasty drink and got no reward for it. Her loss of the chicken, fishing gear, etc. is a ticket to send her home not prevent her from having a reward imo.

no, its a live show they do at orlando studios

I managed to drink it all in one gulp, if i had to do multiple gulps it would have never happened. I about puked half way through swallowing, the fish smell was nauseating and the chunky texture is what made it so bad.

I was nauseous for the next hour or two and every time i burped it stunk of fish guts so my wife wouldnt kiss me for like a whole day.

but it was all worthwhile because I was first finished and my team WON! ..............

Crazy Russell is growing on me. Even though he seems vindictive at times, he also has a sense of when to go along with the group. He was obviously upset with Liz this time but did not vote for her.

How small do they let one tribe get before balancing it out or something?

I felt bad for him at the immunity challenge. He had no chance. It looked like Eric and John? were sinking like every shot for purple tribe while Jaison and Ashley kept chucking up airballs.

I agree telling everyone is dumb, but it shouldn't really matter at this point. Russell has told Jaison and Mick he has the idol, Liz has figured it out, and Natalie isn't smart enough that the info would do her any good.

Be interesting to see if Shambo tells anyone on her tribe that it's gone and one of the yellow tribe must have it.

There is no set number. They switch things up based on what they think will make good TV. Sometimes they will do a switch up early in the game. Sometimes they won't balance it out at all, like when Stephanie was in a tribe by herself for a couple days after everyone in her tribe got sent home.
Mercury69
Black Russell is a bitch.

Crazy Russell remains awesome and aware of the game. Notice how he NEVER sticks his neck out in fromt of more than one person at a time. I thought his vote against Ashley was a great move, because now he can go to Liz (if he wants) and say "Look, see? I could have put your name down, but I'm trusting you for the good of the tribe. Now you should trust me in return."

Shambo is a walking nightmare. Group hug? Give me a break. I'm glad she had to pay for losing the chicken and breaking the fishing gear, etc. If she can't figure out how they are related, she is dumber than I thought.

Monica is the hottest girl there, imo. Did you see how she swallowed that goo and then stuck out that long, beautiful tongue?

As for a favorite, I don't think anyone is a favorite yet and sparks are going to fly when the merge comes.

I loved that the producers made you think, with the promo, that the 'scariest moment ever' for Jeff was during the challenge... but it was actually after everyone was already gone and he thought Russell died right in front of him. I'm glad they left that surprise for us. (I was pretty disappointed in the commercials leading up to tonight, since I thought they gave away everything that had happened.)
brvheart
I'm going to do a mid-season re-ranking of the people, just for fun.

Here's what I had before I knew anything about anyone:

QUOTE (brvheart @ Wednesday, September 16th, 2009, 8:28 PM) *
Rank Name Age Notes
1 Jaison Robinson 28 Jeff thinks he will go far and not be annoying.
2 Erik Cardona 28 Jeff likes him, will double cross
3 Brett Clouser 23 The young owner of the non-profit. I like him. But he is admitted that he is too trusting... yikes.
4 Elizabeth Kim 33 Lawyer
5 Kelly Sharbaugh 25 Tattoo of trouble and caution.
6 Mick Trimming 33 Jeff doesn't trust him.
7 Laura Morett 39 Jeff thinks Laura could win.
8 Natalie White 26 Thinks she will play social game well.
9 Marisa Calihan 26 Thinks she'll get eaten by her tribe.
10 Ashley Trainer 22 The blond that has gut. Jeff says he wouldn't be surprised if she goes far.
11 Betsy Bolan 48 Cop
12 Ben Browning 28 Has an anger problem.
13 Monica Padilla 25 She won't be great.
14 John Fincher 25 Wildcard, Jeff thinks he's an idiot.
15 Russell Hantz 36 Evil. Wants to destroy his own tribe.
16 Yasmin Giles 33 Jeff wouldn't be surprised if she was 1st out.
17 Mike Borassi 62 Chef
18 Shannon Waters 45 Old Harley lady
19 Russell Swan 42 Weird old black dude
20 Dave Ball 38 Weird-o with 140 IQ

NOTE: This is not the order that I think they will exit in... but moreso the ranking of; if this particular person will win the whole season. There is no way in fiery hell that anyone from #16-20 on this list wins.

My new ranking list...

1 Russell Hantz 36 I can't believe how amazing he is. Probably top 3 ever. I'm glad we'll get to see him next season on All-Stars.
2 Jaison Robinson 28 He's a pussy, but he's well liked and he's friends with Russell, which is the only reason he's not 5 or lower here.
3 Dave Ball 38 I can't believe I'm putting Dave this high. He's really been much much better that I would have ever guessed. (I still think he has no shot at winning.)
4 Brett Clouser 23 He's insignificant, which means he has a shot at winning.
5 Mick Trimming 33 I probably like him the best of all the remaining players. (But he won't win.)
6 Erik Cardona 28 His blow-up at tribal tonight will cost him the game. You simply can't make Russell hate you.
7 Kelly Sharbaugh 25 worthless.
8 Laura Morett 39 worthless. Although, due to Russell talking with her next week, she has a shot at going far.
9 John Fincher 25 worthless.
10 Elizabeth Kim 33 Stupid, but hard working. Russell doesn't like her, so she's gone soon.
11 Natalie White 26 worthless.
12 Monica Padilla 25 worthless.
13 Shannon Waters 45 worthless. Will end up finishing like 3rd or 4th though, because like the guys on her tribe said. “She's really dumb, so let's keep her around.”
14 Russell Swan 42 Weird old black dude
15 Ashley Trainer 22 The blond that has gut. Jeff says he wouldn't be surprised if she goes far.
16 Yasmin Giles 33 Jeff wouldn't be surprised if she was 1st out.
17 Ben Browning 28 Has an anger problem.
18 Betsy Bolan 48 Cop
19 Mike Borassi 62 Chef
20 Marisa Calihan 26 Thinks she'll get eaten by her tribe.

I didn't rank the people that are already out. I just put them in the order they left. I think Marisa was really really good. It's a shame she left so early. Everyone else that has been kicked out has been stupid or worthless... including Russell.

I think Fire Plug Russell is a miserable example of a human being. He acts like a prick and thinks everyone around him is a moron. He acts like he is the puppet master, but when the tribe goes a diferent direction, ie voting someone off he didn't want to vote off, he acts like it was his plan all along. He hasn't actually done crap in camp nor to win a challenge - but thinks everyone else is the problem.

Finding the Idol was outstanding. Other than that I hope a tree falls on him.

Ummm. Haven't missed an episode all season - but hey, thanks.

Which is the "act"...

...when he acts like a miserable prick in front of the Cameras?

...or when he lies to people about everything?

...or when he sabotaged his own tribe by dumping their water and burning their personal stuff?

You must have loved Johnny Fairplay.

He always makes a show out of "doing something", but never actually seems to do anything. For example tonite he was complaining about how everyone was a whiner and didn't do crap while he played with a machete stripping leaves from some branches. And when he was done making his comments for the camera he wandered down the beach with the knife - never actually doing anything. If he wants something done around the camp, why doesn't he do something positive instead of simply being a miserable prick?

My brain hurts right now. If he was actually being a jerk to everyone don't you think someone would have mentioned even once that they should get rid of him? Get a clue.* He's mugging for the camera... and he's basically the only one doing anything around camp.

Russel is by far the most entertaining character this season. He's trying to be unlikable for the camera but it's not translating well because he's too engaging. His demeanor and attitude towards the game is completely calculated. I agree(dammit) with brv that he's a favorite to go deep in this.

I purposefully avoid any 'scenes from next week' for any show I watch. I feel the commercials for any show, especially reality tv, tends to give too much away.

My DVR decided to give priority to the new season of OCC and Nitro Circus so I had to watch tonight's episode online. I'm glad I have the safety net of being able to watch this online but it kind of blows compared to watching on my TV.

GG Mike, sorry your horse had to go out that way.

I do like my guy Erik, I'm happy that he stood up to Russell last night and I think his tribe is behind up all the way. I have a feeling he might become the new tribe leader if not Dave.

brvheart - Russell might be very entertaining and the only real good personality on the yellow tribe. He's fun to watch not to mention his rants are great but I certainly wouldn't rank Russell H and Jaison as the top 2 players in the game to win (Maybe the most likeable).

Their tribe has 5 ppl left compared to 8. If a merge happens in the next 2 weeks they don't have the numbers right now to push the game. Judging by the previews Russell deserves credit for trying to make friends with the other tribe next week but to guarantee Laura final 2.... She'd have to be stupid to believe it LOL.

Whenever there is a merge the strongest players from the smaller alliance are the targets, I think Russell is going to have to know when to use his idol in order to go deep and to be honest I hope he does.

Obviously Russell and Jaison will have targets... but the merge isn't happening for 2 or 3 more weeks, probably... and who knows what the make-up of the teams will be by then. Whenever one team dominates, the smaller team always ends up doing very well at the new tribe, because no one's worried about them. Look at JT and Steven! They had lost 5 people and the other tribe only 2, and they both ended up 1st and 2nd. The same scenario could easily play out here.

If they survive one more week it's 5 to 7. If Shambo survives tribal it's really 6 vs 6. I think that would be the perfect merge time.

All I know is I'm liking this season more every week and infact I really hope it does become a 6 vs 6 setup down the road. It would definitely make for good TV.

Also is it just me or do the girls just suck this season?

If you look at my current rankings, you'll see that it's not just you.

Yeah and it is getting on my nerves. The first 10 or so seasons there were some real cutthroat girls who would actually PLAY the game. Lately it seems like the girls are either psycho (Shambo) or just eye candy. Unless Monica, her friend, and the blond chick make some kind of power play the girls are done for the season.

I find it funny how at least one person in here every week says something about Russel being horrible for the tribe. The only thing negative he did was the water/socks thing. All the other shit he talks is to the cameras, not to the tribe. He is playing an excellent game and he is not harming his tribe at all.

I think Jeff should have still given everyone pizza. That looks so miserable just sitting there in the rain. I'd probably go in the water too. Isn't the ocean water kind of warm in Samoa?

I thought it was funny that there were 13 people at tribal and Jeff only talked to the same 4 people. Erik needs to lighten up.

There was a whole lotta truth in this post.

Having to be wet and cold for 5 days plays to the namesake of the show. You should have to have some skills to SURVIVE. If you can't build a proper shelter for the elements you may be facing, you're going to suffer. I love this.

Sitting in the rain for that many days and nights would be brutal.
