Im not even sure this belongs in religion, but anyways,

Last week my motherinlaw who has alzheimers walked in our bedroom and told us her sister doris who lives in fresno was in her room. My wife told her she was dreaming and go back to bed. In the morning I jokingly asked her if doris left. She said yes and she said goodbye.

30 minutes later we got a call telling us doris died in the middle of the night.

Dang I hate that kinda stuff.

Belongs in the coincidences forum.

Sorry to hear about Doris.

My grandfather had Alzheimer's... I remember the alternating between total hilarity and total sadness.

Has she ever done anything like this before? Does she ever talk about people who aren't around?

And more importantly, how many people do you think there are in the world who are confused about where they are and who is there? And how many people die each day? And what are the odds that those two sets will occasionally intersect?

NO but she always wakes up thinking she has to go somewhere.

Doris I guess was a pretty common name back when.

Im not making any assumptions about how this happened, could very well be amazing coincidence

What makes you think it was an amazing coincidence rather than something that happens every day by chance somewhere in the world?

Are you trying to lay bait? Isn't the alternative that there is an invisible force or soul or God or consciousness in the universe, and so even though you don't realize or consciously know what event has occurred, your soul (perhaps) has found out or has been shifted, and has reacted? Or something similar to that.

I think that when faced with unurmouning evidence that there isn't a God or higher power, the oft romanticized thought
of a universal consienceness is what's left. Other than fictionalized accounts I can't say i've seen or heard of anything convincing but it's always interesting to say the least. Separated twins knowing when something happened to the other. Wives knowing that something happened to their husband away at war. Moms and kids, etc.

I don't know, but I'm guessing it's not very rare for a person to, in a moment of confusion, mention someone's name, only to have that person have a significant event in the next 48 hours. It would surprise me more to learn that it didn't happen anywhere in the world on any given day than to learn that it happened 10 times that day.

Sounds like a very strange occurance, that I wouldn't base any change in world view on, but on a personal level it would impact me if it happened to me.
