Wow. this looks like it could be pretty damn good.

I've never seen the first Tron. Worth renting?
Jadaki
The first Tron was one of my favorite movies growing up. The computer jargon in the movie is hilarious and adds to the unintentional humor, still worth seeing imo.

Edit* Wow, Jeff Bridges is in this one too! Slightly different take on the light cycles, and the disc battles should be kick ass.

You know they are making a movie of Asteroids, right?

And when the fuck is Pac-Man coming out?

Aaaaaaaaaaaand now your opinion means nothing.

But the trailer is cool.

I picture him walking out of the theater going "NO NO NO NO NO!"

So is that a yes or no? lol

The original was in 1982 before I was born. You never hear any talk of it, and it isn't ever on TV. I guess I have been living under a rock or something?

Definitely living under a rock.

Tron was a classic, I even remember the Tron video game being pretty popular when I was a kid. The movie itself is not that great in terms of storyline, but the premise, the special effects, and overall aesthetic were pretty damned cool at the time.

The original is excellent. The only redeeming quality of the trailer for the new one is that Jeff Bridges is in it (wasn't he the good guy though?). If it is more of a sequel than a remake, I will be interested. I mean, like 3/4 of what makes the original so great is the campiness and ultra-cool 1982 effects. I'm gonna say there's a 70-80% chance that it's gonna suck.

Cindy Morgan was pretty hot too.

I missed this the first time, saw the trailer today. This is going to be absolutely epic, a generational film. Citizen Kane meets Godfather meets Gone With the Wind meets Titanic meets The Matrix.

So the movie will probably suck. Still, a Tron sequal, almost 30 years after? Awe Some.

Daft Punk is doing the music, and Disney World has its very own Tronorail.

So just saw this. I haven't seen the first one, so maybe there are subtle things I missed, though the movie did a decent job of filling in the holes necessary for someone watching this one cold.

It was pretty good. Visually pretty, as expected, and the plot was okay. Not great, but good enough. There were a few emotional scenes that felt sort of forced, but they weren't so bad as to be awful to watch. Probably won't watch it again, but it was worth seeing, and probably should be seen in theaters if you're going to watch it at all.

a very fun film

did you see it in 3D? I saw it in 3D. Not sure if it really added anything. It made the film darker.

since there were almost 30 years in between films they're not going to make it a "need to see the first one" type.

there were a few references to the first movie (spoiled so people can enjoy it when they see it: "that's a big door" is the only one I can remember right now. maybe that was the only one)

Nah, didn't catch it in 3D, was still cool anyway. Like I said though, I wouldn't bother to watch it if I couldn't see it on a big screen.

TRON Guy's Costume -- Banned from Movie Theater

MILLIONS have viewed his YouTube videos -- but a movie theater in Minnesota doesn't care ... because we're told they won't let TRON Guy see the new remake in the costume that made him an Internet legend.

Jay Maynard -- who's been doing the Tron Guy thing since '04 -- tells TMZ, he gave his local movie theater a heads-up that he planned to see the new "Tron" flick in his famous costume ... but for some reason, they "adamantly" insisted he wouldn't be admitted if he suited up.

We don't know why management refused -- the suit OBVIOUSLY belongs in a museum -- but Maynard believes it's because his masterpiece is "too distracting."

Sidenote -- has anyone seen his stapler?

Just watched it. Definitely visually fun. I liked Quorra.
