Don't give up hope. The GI Joe franchise has been excellent at doing unexpectedly quality things, like the whole snakes eyes storm shadow drama they put in there comics. Another plus is casting Randy Quaid....so this could be a unexpectedly good time. hmmmm, actually this should be a awesome good time! Goooooo Joe!

The other day I had my genitals electrocuted while people pressed lit cigars into my flesh. But it was done by Randy Quaid, so it felt good.

El Guapo, do not read the following:
This movie isn't as bad as you thought it will be. No, it's actually a lot worse. Read on.
Okay, here is the main thing you need to know about "G.I. JOE." If you are, or ever have been, a fan of the cartoon, the comics, or the toys, which all basically tie together, then this live-action version will ruin any fond memory that you have of that history. I repeat, it WILL RUIN ANY FOND MEMORY!!!! And I mean FOREVER! You will see and hear things that you can't un-see or un-hear. You will be scarred!!
[plot details omitted]
This movie was so damn awful, it was hard to even write this, as I had to relive it. I would flog Stephen Sommers and the writers if given the opportunity. This movie was so bad, I thought it was almost over and I looked at my watch and it had only been an hour!!! I literally said out loud, "God, please, let this movie end!" It was that painful!
It has very little connection to anything that you will remember from your childhood. What it is, is a slap in the face and a complete aberration to what I would consider G.I. Joe. I actually regret seeing this movie and only wrote this to stave off the disappointment you will also feel as a result.
These bastards are planning a trilogy for this story. Please DO NOT SEE THIS FILM! If it does well, it will only embolden them to make that happen. If it fails miserably, maybe a reboot can happen in 5 plus years. What a total failure of a movie.
Say NO to G.I. JOE.
Now, this is only one man's opinion, but note the first line: "not as bad as you thought it will be." (Shouldn't that be "would be?") When this movie was test screened, it got the worst ratings in the history of the studio.
But...here's what I think will happen. People will see it anyway expecting an abortion of a movie, will instead get a very bad movie, and the movie will have exceeded their expectations thus tricking them into thinking it was ok.

Oh, god, isn't it the worse when that happens!
It's so much better when you expect a really bad movie and instead get an abortion of a movie.
For instance, the other day my friend and I saw, "I love you, Beth Cooper." We were bored and really wanted to see a bad movie to make fun of. What we got was so much worse than anything we could have anticipated. It's as if the director hired a brilliant think tank of major studio executives, other directors, writers, film critics, and film teachers. The job of this think tank was to go through the script, line by line, direction by direction, and find those parts that could, in some crazy world, be considered vaguely decent. They were to then immediately cross those parts out and instead hire a drunken chimpanzee on meth to hurl feces at a typewriter until it hit enough vowels and periods to come close to a sentence. Someone would then find the closest actual English sentence to the chimp's fecal writing, and that sentence would be put into the script.
Like, wow.

Edit: Lily, please ignore that second sentence.

This is the crux of my argument, to just say no to the raping of our childhood memories. I will never see one of these crappy nostalgia fests ever again.

I had to bump this. Saw the movie. Ugh. Not good.
The acting was horrific. I know it was an action movie, but still. That Channing Tatum queer makes Paul Walker look like Robert DeNiro.
I award it 0 stars, and may God have mercy on my soul.
In better news, Stormshadow and Snake Eyes rocked OBV. And I've never cared for Siena Miller, but dark hair and naughty librarian glasses....Vandees likee.
