I recorded this and just watched it.

I really liked it. The show centers around a billionaire (I think oil tycoon). In the pilot episode the main character was in Nigeria trying to close some deal for his company. A hurricane strikes where he is staying and he has to evacuate his hotel, and he saves a boy who falls from a boat. The deal never went through so he decides to go back, but instead delivers a vaccine to the village where the boy is from.

I highly recommend this show, especially since there is not much else on during the summer. Also, there is a really hot red head who is the billionaires assistant.

IN that scene, from It's always sunny in philedephia, charlie introduces himself as a "Full on Rapist", he meant to say phianthropist..

Edit:

I made a dumb post in the thread McGee made for the Prisoner. I clicked this thread and noticed that my post was not here. I then composed a vicious, vicious response, in which I made pretty specific assertions about sexual allegiances, racial makeup and degrees of physical parental intimacy present in the moderators of this forum, all of which seemed moments ago relevant to their choices in the deletion of a random, stupid post.

Come to realize, I was in the wrong thread, and no such deletion took place. Which makes sense, because there was nothing provocative about it, which for some reason didn't occur to me until now.

I offer no apologies for opinions offered based on data held in the alternate reality in which my posts are unjustly targeted. Unless of course you were offended to such a degree -- and are such a person -- that I believe meaningful consequences will outweigh amusement. In which case, I'm sorry.

I've been watching this show on Hulu recently, and I am pretty sad that it got canceled. Granted I may be biased because I have an academic (as well as personal) interest in the sort of issues the show covers. With that said, it is extraordinarily well done as a show overall. Sucks that it didn't stick.

Maybe it would have been a better movie?

Meh, I think all a movie could have done is basically extend one of the episodes twice as long. I like how they formatted it as a 45-minute show. Granted, it's the sort of show that could only last a limited time because you can't just keep exposing similar problems and issues around the world. I would have liked to see this go about 20 episodes, and then bow out.

I liked the show because it's actually really well done as a show, but also serves as a good sort of "awareness" creator. Having researched the real-life circumstances of at least a few of the plot lines (I have an interest in studying modern-day slavery, whether it be forced labor, sex trafficking, child soldiers, or others), they didn't embellish details very much or make situations over-dramatic just to make the show more interesting. Which isn't to say that the situations aren't fucked up, just that they weren't making up how bad things were. At least for the episodes which cover what I've studied, they're accurate enough that I would feel comfortable showing them to a class as a means of entertaining students while educating them.

I don't know if that applies to all the episodes; but I expect (or at least hope I guess) that quality of accurate portrayal carries over to all of them.

You have a personal interest in philanthropic matters? Because...I could use a few bucks.
