Has anyone read this book? I'm thinking of buying it but wanted to get some opinions first. Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

It's a good book, but you have to understand it's about beating mid limit games. Not small stakes games.
If you play under 10/20 read Small Stakes Holdem instead. Then read HEFAP when you move up.

it's a great book that will take your game to another level. highly recommended. and i disagree that it only applies to mid-limit games. there is sound strategy here for playing any limit. if you understand the concepts in this book, you should crush low-limit games.

This is widely considered as the "Bible" for poker players.
However, I might warn you that it isn't intended for novices. I read this book when I first started playing and it didn't do much for me because I just couldn't grasp the concepts and didn't know some of the common terms. After some coaching from a friend who's a poker pro and many hours of play I read it again and couldn't believe I was reading the same book!

This is why alot of people don't like Sklansky. Most of the shit he writes about is way over their head. I had to read this book 3 times before I was able to understand the majority of the concepts at hand. I'm a nerd, so I really like books and notes. I reccomend you read this book like a text book. Highlight, sticky-note, and quize yourself to death. Pretend there is a big hold'em exam coming up.

I've read this one, his small stakes book, theory of poker and pretty much all of slanskys stuff and I would suggest reading this one, its not the best but it is for mid-limit 6/12 to 15/30 games is what it's intented for in my opinion, if you play lower, get his small stakes book. If you play higher, get this one anyway.

read his small stakes hold em first. that book is incredible. easy read as well and you should be able to dominate games up to 5/10.
i think its a must to read this book first and then the 2nd to build ur knowledge. you'll have 2 different types of games and will be able to change gears based on the type of player you're dealing with.
