Full Version: How Do I Make A Profit In Sb/bb?

After 22k hands in SSHE I was looking over my position stats and I noticed that I am profitable in every position except two, the SB and BB! Not only am I not profitable, but this is a huge money sink for me. My net profit is 746.21 for all positions combined. My SB and BB are net loses are almost exactly even, $250 and $250. This is shocking to me, this is 2/3 of my current net profit.

Is it possible to be profitable in the blind positions or is this something I am just going to have to live with? If so what books/articles/internet can teach me how to secure this major leak in my game?! Please help! I am active duty military and can't work a second job so I really need to squeeze every penny I can out of my time to supplement my income. Thank you for your help!

I think you live with it (not profiting from the blinds). Your best hope is to find ways to reduce the amount of money you lose and thereby increase your overall profit that way. I'll leave the rest to limit grinders to answer.

Yes, you will lose from the blinds. What I don't know is what kind of winrate you should have in pots that you VP$IP from the blinds. I suspect this is more important than your overall winrate from the blinds.

short answer to the question in your title. You don't.

SB and BB are not profitable positions.

however, while they are not profitable, if you learn how to play well in them and properly defend steals and how light to call in limped and raised multiway pots you will lose a lot less in them which can really help your winrate.

fcpbob made a really good comment about playing from the blinds against a steal once -
"from the sb you want to be tight and aggressive. from the bb you want to be loose and passive"

of course there are exceptions. you're in the sb with 78s and the button raises and the bb is very loose and overplays his hands. to just call here is fine because he will usually come along and when you hit you can win a lot from him.

This.
Really hard to profit in those positions. Keep playing the way you are playing, as long as you are profiting in other positions, you're fine. Only way I ever profit from the SB is if the button folds and gives me the chance to steal.
