93 million dollars ( not sure euros/pounds). Jesus christ that's such a huge deal.

Report: "Real Madrid agrees to buy Kaka from Milan"

You can't tell me this is the best wording they could come up with.

Chelsea apparently has bid £73.5($121.7) for him.

"I wanted to stay but the world crisis affected my decision," he said.

such a ridiculous amount of money. apparently perez wants both kaka and ronaldo this summer. so we could see an even bigger deal at some point.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Real are financing this deal and the others they claim to be making. There is talk they are selling Ruud off for £1.25mil, don't think that will cover it.

There are 2 factors why Real are going on a spending spree. 1st they have a monster tv deal which from what i am led to believe is different from the collective bargaining deal that the English Premier League has. Basically they negotiate with the TV companies and take a big stash of cash opposed to Man U and Liverpool etc who have to share the revenue.

2nd They just don't care about debt, its much more important to have a winning team. They believe that the establishment would never allow them to go bust because they are Real Madrid.

I believe they're still expected to get Villa as well.

real could have bought newcastle for £20 million more!

from a selfish standpoint, i'm just glad they are snapping up all the decent strikers world wide and leaving the defenders alone, gives arsenal a chance to buy some much needed centre backs and stops the other premiership teams from strengthening their attacks. obv its sad for the prem not to have these talents on show though.

on the positive side, el classico could well be about 7-6 next year!

And Ribery if the rumour mill is to be believed.

Perez must have won the Euromillions!

The Villa rumor is more substantive, imo. Perez has already said that he does not expect to get Ribery, but Valencia apparently turned down a Chelsea bid for Villa because talks were already pretty far along with Real. But I suppose the Ronaldo deal could change things. I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

I do love transfer season, though.

transfer season beats the hell out of anything in the usa. It's it's like the NFL draft and the MLB hot stove league combined.

Yeh, that's right.

Funny thing is Real have broken the world record twice in a week in £ but only once in Euros. Due to the change in exchange rate the £45.6m for Zidane is more in Euros than the £56m for Kaka. £80m is comfortably more, in fact it's downright scary!

The other interesting question about all these signings (if we ignore the money one) is what happens to Raul in all of this? Dropping him used to get you the sack, so is it over for him as the king of Madrid or are they going to have to shoe horn him into the starting 11 some how.

Raul can play in Midfield or as a forward. Since both Kaka and Ronaldo can also play both those positions i'm sure they will find a way of easing Raul in.

pay off their debt? They are not a financially sound operation from what I have read.....I believe they lost money this year (lots of it) despite their continued success.
Mercury69
I don't think the loss of Ronaldo will hurt ManU as much as some might think. And I agree that they need to ram that cash straight into their operations to get rid of some debt load.

Nothing like paying off debt to fire up a fan base.

They could not possibly have much more success than they have had the last couple years and they still hemorraghed money. That is not sustainable (and its not like Man U gets poor support) so they needed to do something.
