I figured the push was appropriate due to all the potential draws out there... I dunno, it worked OK, but perhaps I could have played it differently??

Seems ok, but the min-raise isn't good news.
You might not have been as far ahead as you thought x.x

i HATE the push. don't give results by saying the push worked okay, that was a terrible push. you're only getting called when you're beat or you're a dog/coinflip.

just because a donk called you when he was way behind does not make the push correct. you can't slowplay that, you're right, but you can't overbet it, either.

after you call his raise, the pot is $10ish, so raise something like $8-$10 more (making it $12-$14 to go). that's a good pot-sized bet that protects your hand against draws while also getting the correct value. if he reraises, THEN you have a good chance to push.

Problem with that Aseem, is that we only have 26 dollars. If we make it 14 to go, 15 of our dollars are already in the pot. I'd be all for making a smaller raise if we had top set of aces in this situation, but I'm okay with this.

great point.

i've been thinking about this for a while, and you're right.

it sucks, since any pot-sized bets prevents your ability to protect your hand on the turn, but anything less fails to protect your hand on the flop, and anything more prevents your ability to protect your hand on the turn even more, so a push is the only solution.

i just hate it so much, it's not too +EV in itself, but i understand that it's more of a desperation move here that must be done.

i've been playing too much pot limit recently, i guess. :-)

man, i love PL HE so much more than NL HE.
