so I have netflix and looking for a series that me and my wife could start to watch. Here are the list of shows that we watch:

CSI: the original
NCIS
Big Bang Theory
How I met your Mother
Two and a Half Men
Jon & Kate Plus 8
Table for 12
Las Vegas (we watched all the repeats through TNT)

I know pretty broad spectrum of shows. I have the three video package so we could get a lot of a series at a time. We tend to watch primarly whatever we DVR. I am down to checking out a lot of different things. I know we talked about Lost but she doesn't want to watch that. We have seen a few episodes of House but not sure we are totally sold on watching that. I thought about Bones, any thoughts on that?

Here is another catch we usually always watch something while eating but we don't watch CSI or NCIS while eating cause it makes her a little sick.

Thanks in advance.

Try season one of Six Feet Under or The Wire.
CindyLou
Arrested Development
The West Wing
wsox8
The Wire
Weeds
Big Love

House is really good, though very formulaic.

24 (starting at the beginning)
The Office
30 Rock
CSI: Miami (2nd to the original, for different reasons)
Entourage (Though not great for the wife, but good show)
The Unit (Hidden Gem)

That's off the top of my head.

24 (starting at the beginning)

Bad idea, unless you feel like not leaving the house for a week or two.

Try season one of Six Feet Under or The Wire.

I have been watching The Wire on my own and loving it. I had watched a couple episodes of Six feet under and just never really liked it

Arrested Development
The West Wing

The cast in arrested development looks interesting so that could be a maybe

The Wire
Weeds
Big Love

Read above for the wire. Heard about weeds and just read some about it sounds pretty interesting. Not sure about big love seems a bit out there.

I thought about 24 but not sure if she wants to watch it. The office is just total slapstick comedy right? CSI Miami I just can't stand David Caruso. And then for about an hour after watching the show I find myself talking like him. Love entourage and the wifey isn't allowed to watch that with me. The unit did seem interesting too but not sure if that is her type of show

Damages

Think this show might be a little too serious for me. She like the court room things more than I do.

Thanks for all of your help guys. Lets see what the wifey says.

Hey when the wifey likes to watch certain things you just go with it. Thinking about trying Arrested development.

This show was on from 2003 to 2006. There is a 5 page thread on here that was started in December 2007 and is still going strong with just people posting their favorite moments of the show.

You have to watch this show.

Unless your sense of humor sucks.

But I don't remember your posts enough to make that judgment yet.

the office is rarely slapstick comedy. it's actually a very character driven show. most characters are an amplified version of someone you've probably worked with if you ever worked in an office, but the main characters (jim, pam, michael) have very relatable human elements I find endearing.

let me ask you guys this

should I get a dvd of each show? or try and knock out a full season first and then go to another show?

think we are looking at Arrested development, weeds and The office. And while we are watching that I am going to be finishing up the wire. Should finish season 3 by the end of the week.

Weeds is a great show. My wife and I both enjoy it.
SuitedAces21
as for how you should watch them, thats up to you, i would say.

i own the dvds to all the shows i listed above plus numerous others. mainly because i have nothing else to do and partly because i like to watch them in order, in a row. makes it better for me.

It's not a courtroom thing, in fact they probably spent less than a minute in the court for the past 2 series. It doesn't have legal jargon and fast talking law shit, it's about people manipulating and deceiving each other, and it is excellent. The cast is amazing, and the plots are always exciting. I got my bf to watch the pilot episode with me and we were both hooked instantly. Give it a shot.

Try Coupling (thanks to IQ Crash for recommending it). You can watch it instantly on Netflix via your computer or XBox. They bill it as a British version of Friends, but I don't agree. Coupling is actually funny. Zing.
brvheart
If you haven't seen it, then the ONLY correct answer is Arrested Development, from beginning to end. (3 seasons)

You can move on to other stuff after you finish that show. Nothing else matters until you're finished with AD.

well I love Netflix.

I got the weeds season 1 and 2 to watch instantly as well as 30 rock seasons 1 and 2.

Should receive Arrested development season 1 disc 1 on monday and starting season 4 disc 1 and 2 for the wire.

Lots of TV to watch.

We did Netflix for House. That was sort of fun.

A friend is watching M*A*S*H and is having fun with that.
