Don't know how many Asian movie buffs are out there but thought I'd start a thread on this for those who are interested.

Fairly new movies definitely worth watching:

Ip Man - story about Bruce Lee's master during the Japanese invasion of China

Red Cliff - Epic war film in ancient chinese times by John Woo. The story runs over two movies as one.

The Warlords - Jet Li stars in war film that's really great if you can stand seeing a lot of men cry.

Hero with Jet Li

I was horribly disappointed with Hero. maybe it was "above me" to comprehend what the director was trying to do but I wasn't a fan.

now Black Mask as above poster listed is good but the best Jet Li film is BY FAR is Fist of Legend. actually, it may possibly be the best martial arts film out there. ya, I said it! here's the epic final fight scene which even after 15 years still has one of the best finishes (don't watch this if you want to see the rest of the movie though): Fist of Legend Final Fight

not a bad film but no where close to the best of Jackie Chan. Drunken Master 2 is the gold standard.

I enjoyed the first one, didn't know there was a 2nd one.

I actually really liked Hero. It's based off of Chinese history. Basically Jet Li's character gave his life so that the emperor could unite all of China.

I also really liked Fearless, I thought that movie was awesome as well.

There was a movie called the Golden Orchid or Yellow something (not starring Li) but the movie wasn't that great, but I thought the ending battle was awesome. ETA:It was Curse of the Golden Flower

I like his movies also. They are full of wtf moments lol.

There are a lot of older kung fu comedies that I have seen, but I don't remember the titles. I used to live next to a video store with all these movies. There are so many awesome asian movies out there.

The one I watched most recently was Battle Royale. They put a Junior high class on an island then have like 3 days to kill each other, and the one that survives wins. If there is more than 1 person left in the 3 day time frame then a leash on there neck will give everyone an electric shock that will kill them. So they pretty much have to kill each other lol.

I loved Kung Fu Hustle.

When I was a kid I remember watching Samurai Sundays, that's just what it was called in the afternoon and they would have a bunch of different Asian movies, I wish I could remember some of the titles.

There was one movie I sortof remember, a guy was trying to learn KungFu and wanted to be a monk or something, the monks wouldn't teach him. So he taught himself a different type of KungFu style. He would build things with bamboo like houses or huts or whatever, he would then use those structures like a jungle gym or something. He learned how to use the bamboo poles and how they bent and stuff. Sigh. I'm just hoping maybe this rattles someone's memory, I know it's a verrrrrrrrrrrry broad description.

ahh...ya, there's going to be some confusion.

Drunken Master 2 was released in the US as the only drunken master. so the famous one in the video stores is actually "the" movie.

Fearless was alright I suppose but if you haven't watched old Jet Li then you're really missing out.

Best of Jet Li:
(no order)

- Fist of Legend
- Once Upon a Time in China #1 + #2
- Black Mask

Kung Fu Hustle is fukkin genius play on the humour-spoof-action genre. One of the freshest movies in decades for SURE!!
