Just wondering how I made out here, I think I did pretty well for knowing the absolute bare minimum about baseball, but if there's improvements that need to be made, I'm all ears.

1. Albert Pujols - 1B
2. Tim Lincecum - SP
3. Josh Hamilton - OF
4. Cole Hamels - SP
5. Alex Rodriquez - 3B (inj)
6. Nate McLouth - OF
7. Chipper Jones - 3B
8. Derek Jeter - SS
9. Chad Billingsley - SP
10. Chris Davis - 1B/3B
11. Adam Dunn - OF
12. Zach Greinke - SP
13. Jermaine Dye - OF
14. Kelly Shoppach - C
15. Kerry Wood - RP
16. Edinson Volquez - SP
17. Jim Thome - DH
18. Jose Lopez - 2B
19. Rick Ankiel - OF
20. Mark DeRosa - 2B/3B/OF
21. Brian Wilson - SP/RP
22. Chad Qualls - RP
23. Matt Thornton - RP
24. Paul Konerko - 1B
25. Jorge Cantu - 1B/3B
26. Chris Ray - RP

I had the second overall pick in an 8 team H2H league with the following categories for stats:

Batters - AVG, OPS, RBI, K, HR, R, SB, E
Pitchers - WHIP, K, L, HD, ERA, W, SV, QS

Any feedback would be appreciated, I'm a hockey guy so I really haven't followed baseball at all since I was a kid. I was offered a team in my office league so I decided to take a shot.

Thanks guys.

Just in poking around the waiver wire, I see the following players still available:

Jorge Posada
Barry Zito
Todd Helton
Andy Pettitte
Mark Buehrle
Jason Giambi
Hideki Matsui
Jason Varitek

In an 8 team league I'm sure there's tons of talent still sitting out there, any sleepers that I should look to pounce on?

14. Kelly Shoppach - C - VMart is back so Shoppach will not get as many AB as he did last year - still a good pick though
15. Kerry Wood - RP
16. Edinson Volquez - SP
17. Jim Thome - DH
18. Jose Lopez - 2B
19. Rick Ankiel - OF
20. Mark DeRosa - 2B/3B/OF
21. Brian Wilson - SP/RP
22. Chad Qualls - RP
23. Matt Thornton - RP - Setup guy so you don't really need one in a 8 team league (closers that might be available: Bell, Morrow, Ziegler, Francisco, M Gonzalez, Street, Rodney, Lindstrom, Motte) I highlighted the closers that I really like out of that group.
24. Paul Konerko - 1B
25. Jorge Cantu - 1B/3B
26. Chris Ray - RP (only good if he beats out Sherill who's the current closer on Balt)

Just in poking around the waiver wire, I see the following players still available:

Jorge Posada (I would get him as you need another catcher and Posada is healthy this year)
Barry Zito (God No)
Todd Helton (I'd take him over Cantu and maybe even Konerko)
Andy Pettitte
Mark Buehrle
Jason Giambi
Hideki Matsui (I like him)
Jason Varitek (Posada is better)

In an 8 team league I'm sure there's tons of talent still sitting out there, any sleepers that I should look to pounce on?

For sleepers, the following two rookies have made the squad - especially in keeper legaues, they need to be targeted.

Travis Snider (OF, Toronto)
Dexter Fowler (OF, Colorado)

The #1 rookie was sent down to the minors but will be up soon: Matt Wieters (C, Balt). Might be worth stashing him on your team now if no one has him.

Travis Snider has looked awesome in exbition..And its one of the things i am looking forward to as a Jays fan this year..

Also in Toronto we are wishing for a ton of rainouts early as we like to see Halladay pitch every game..

Unfortunately we have a dome. icon_biggrin.gif
