Christ, what a bad year for radio that I like. Tony KornHeiser annouces that he's not coming back to radio until his MNF run is over, Dave Dameshek gets yanked off the air, and now is relegated to a pod cast, Adam Carolla gets canned, and now this. For those of you who don't know, Max Kellerman has a show 3 hour show in on ESPN1050 out of NYC, and it was one of the best sports talk show's I've ever heard. I didn't care, even the slightest, about New York sports teams, but despite that, he made the show interesting. He was very logic based, a fan of the Bill James-style SABR analysis, had great guests, loved hip hop. the show was at it's peak, when Brian Kenny ( of Sports Center and ESPN Boxing fame) co-hosted it. Kenny left last year, and Max really missed his foil. Then, recently, ESPN fired two of Max's producers and on-air contributers, Louie and Lumberg, and the show really started to suffer. I like max, but he was at his best when he had people to converse with, argue with, interact with. It was, at it's peak, one of the smartest sports talk shows around. So today, I check my Itunes, and I see that I have " The thundering Herd" as one of my subscriptions. WTF, I though, how the hell did that miserable hack Colin Cowherd get on my itunes? So, as I go to delete it, I see a couple Max Kellerman shows sprinkled with the Herd. Apparently, they cancelled the show on monday, replacing one of the best sports talk shows with one of the very worst. It makes me so sad. Kellerman should be replacing Cowherd, he's infinitely funnier, smarter, and an all around better show. ESPN Radio is just terribly run. There's nothing good left on it. I'm so bitter right now, I how Max lands somewhere, he's an amazing talent.
If you get a chance, read some Jason Whitlock columns. He is on Fox or MSN now. Fox I think. And he always rail on ESPN, talking about how bad they are now, because of how they run their anchors like they are in Nazi Germany, nobody can speak out against anything to do with the network, and worse, they are so in bed with the NCAA, BCS, NBA, MLB and the NFL, that it's starting to hurt the product. It's an interesting take, and dead accurate if you ask me. Bill Simmons touches on it as well, but you can tell that he as way more to say about it and it should be interesting if he ever leaves ESPN.

he's great. IF he starts back up with Mike, I'll let yuou know, and you should check it out. Also, Dan Lebatard's show out of miami is the best radio show around, now that Kornheiser is on hiatus.
I don't have the time to listen to sports radio, but I've heard that Lebetard is fantastic. I LOVE him when he fills in on PTI. I would also imagine Kornheiser is solid on radio, but I think he does his best work opposite Wilbon.
