I'd primarily be using the PSP or DS for gaming. I don't really care about being able to play music or videos since I have an ipod but it is a bonus. Also, I don't want responses from people who have one device and have never touched the other. Being able to easily hack the device is also a plus.

What would you guys choose and why? Convince me why I'd want one over the other.

I have a psp have had one for a number of years. I don't have a DS however I have a number of friends who have them. I have however played the DS from them.I would much rather take the DS than the PSP. A big thing that I am pissed about is that the psp isn't having mlb the show 2009. This is the only way I play this game because I don't have a ps3. And for some reason the games on the psp just don't seem that good. I have always played sports games and the last baseball basketball games I had for the psp would always freeze. A great game for psp is tiger woods golf which I play all the time however that is the only game I really play on it.

As far as cheating the system. I know the DS has the r4 chips which I know my friends have and is really easy to use.

I know you could mod a psp however when I tried to do mine a year or so back I couldn't because I was running an newer model and had to go back to the older model.

I have thought about buying a DS recently just because of the R4 chip and the games just seem to be more fun. Cause I am not going to buy a big RPG for psp cause I would rather play a game like that on my 360.

Another thing I just thought about is load times. The psp load time is forever while the DS doesn't have a load time.

Hope that helps.

Piddle Duck
DS and it is not even close.

Edit: someone came into the office so now I will post why.

Games. Plain and simple. There are more games. Doesn't matter what you like, the DS will have you covered. Battery life was terrible on my PSP. The screen was crap on my PSP, load times were terrible on my PSP, and the games were meh. It's long gone but my DS is still around and used often on trips and those special times in the bathroom.

I was leaning towards the DS already. What are some good games and I can hack the DS to play all sorts of old nintendo games right?

I have both and the DS wins hands down. There just aren't enough good games on the PSP.

Plus I think they're planning for the new PSP, so games for the original are scarce.

I have both. I like the PSP for the larger screen, and multiple uses. The DS is great for the pure amount of software available. I also like that some of the classic RPG's have been getting ported over to it.

DS games by highest average score

What?

Bought the NDS. Bought a couple of games before realizing the R4 mod chip can play all the ds games for free. Just wondering if anyone has any good links to web pages/apps to download for my R4 chip when it comes.

This too I would like to know. Also where did you find your R4 chip?

I used this site. http://www.modchipstore.com/R4-DS-R4DS-Slo...rosd-16424.html. It was recommended from this article. http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/05/20/hom...-solution-r4ds/.

I also found this site for NDS Roms. http://www.nds-roms.com/. Not sure how it works. I think I just need to download the rom and put it on the micro sd card and then I can play it. I don't think I need to download an emulator.

Just an update if anyone cares. The R4 mod chip works perfect. Obviously now they have the DSi but anyone with a DS Lite should get the R4. You just have to download the latest kernel, stick it on your micro sd card and then your good to go. I have only put ds games on the card so far and all you have to do is simply put them on and then you can play them.
