Would like to see them do this in someother format/time frame. Too many of the top players not participating due to injuries and other reasons, without the best players participating I have little interest in following and I am a huge baseball fan. Might want to consider dumping the all star game at mid-season and taking an extended break to play this. If baseball was willing to bring back the doubleheader and schedule 3 or 4 per team through the season they could probably do it. But then again, doubleheaders = less revenue = baseball will not consider it.

I'm just glad to have some baseball back on TV.

Is there a worse field than the Rogers Centre?

It looks like the salvaged carpet from the old Veteran's Stadium.

If you look at the rosters, there is ton of Major League players throughout. The best players in the world all play in the Majors, except for a handfull of Cubans, Japanese and Korean players - outside of that the best players, play right here in the US. I have watched a few games and so far it has been pretty good, some teams are really exposed in the bullpen, with the pitch count limitations in place becuse of the early March scheduling it puts some teams in a bind. Play it at mid-year and those counts will be very different.

All I was saying is that it would be nice to see all of the top players, and if you do it later in the year, it might get a better turnout of players.

It's actually quite nice tbh. It's 900000% better than the old turf they had in there.

It's field turf. Much the same as most artificial surfaces nowadays. It' probably the color of it that looks a bit off because it is darker and looks kind of patchy. Like I said though, once they put it in, most players liked it because the old field was way too hard and hard on the joints.

The real problem with that park is the scoreboard built into the wall. Imagine running into that.
thehidden
like outsider said it's FieldTurf...but they also play football on there which is why it might be patchy.

I live in a condo that looks right into the Centre and I was walking my dog on saturday around 10:30 and Dustin Pedrioa (i believe it was him) was out there jogging.

God this shit is way more exciting than I thought it would be. I'm glad it ended up being Japan and Korea in the end. They just seemed to be the two that cared the most anyway.

I have to agree, great championship game last night. I found the WBC much more interesting then I did the last time around.

I wish the United States would field the best team possible, so many great players not even on the roster - we really needed help with our pitching.

No - CC Sabithia, Tim Lincecum, Roy Halladay, Brandon Webb, Josh Beckett, Johnathon Papelbon as well as a host of others.
