1. Am I the only one?

2. If so then there is no need for this.

How many more shots do they have?

While they are getting older, they continue to bring in young talent. I think there are only 3 left from the 2002 World Series team.

Been a fan since 1970.

I will always hate the Angels thanks to the 2002 World Series sad.gif

It's only spring training but....

Record: 21-4-1
Last 5 games: 19 homeruns and 64 runs total

Too bad most of the games lately have been like 11-7.

I guess the hitters are better than the pitchers at this point in the season.

Don't know why the haven't signed Lackey yet.

6 years 100 mill IMO.
Moneyball16
Lackey doesn't deserve anything close to what hes getting. Anything over like 3 years/40 million is too much imo.

it really tilts me that angels are associated with los angeles. go dodgerssss

I will always love the Angels thanks to the 2002 World Series.

That and watching them as a kid when the Dodgers were out of town. But, they are not the Los Angeles Angels, they are the California Angels...or Anaheim if you must, but not LA.

Yeah, I never got why it matters to people what city they call themselves. It probably would be ok to some if they had just kept the Los Angeles name the whole time.

But plenty of teams play in different cities than what's on their uni. Do the NY Giants, and Jets still play at the Meadowlands in New Jersey? Do the Detroit Pistons still play in Auburn Hills? Hell the Lakers used to play in Inglewood.

If it brings them any more money to spend on players, rather than getting that money from increasing concessions, then I'm all for it.

If I had my choice I'd go with the Anaheim Angels. I grew up with the California Angels.

He's probably going to get AJ Burnett money (5 years/82 million I think)

6 years 100 mill is probably too high, but 5 for 80 mill is the probable range. I don't see how you can let your ace go away. You've got to be willing to pay fair market dollars for him. And they'll likely have to overpay a bit to keep him.

As far as not deserving what he's already getting, he's ONLY getting 9 mill for this season. Pretty fair.

Moneyball16
I worded it wrong. His contract now is fine I just don't think that he deserves anything close to what Burnett is getting. Neither does Burnett and Burnett wouldn't have got it either if the Yankees waited to see how the economy would affect the market before signing him.

Also the concept of losing your ace isn't important. Ervin Santana is better than Lackey anyways and there will be other pitchers that are almost as good as Lackey that will be free agents that will probably sign for much less. It will be a pretty bare free agent class for pitchers, but pitchers like Bedard, Duchscherer, Harden, Hudson and Myers wouldn't be that much of a step down and they could always save the money that they would normally give to Lackey to sign a position player or save for the draft or trade for a star and sign him to a long term deal.
slink
True Burnett doesn't deserve Burnett money.

I'm predicting Lackey will get it from the Angels though.

if that happened, the Angels are overpaying for someone who is good, not great. i also heard that his elbow is stiff and sore.

not in my eyes. it's funny that lincecum got a pay raise to an astonishing 600k a season after winning the cy young. sigh that lackey makes that much. that is embarrassing on so many levels.

RIP Nick

His dad came out to see him pitch last night, he had missed his debut last year.

Simply tragic.

Curious if Amscray feels sorry for the driver.
Sportsmack
I'm an A's fan and was watching the game last night. When I heard the news on the radio this morning I was in complete shock. So surreal to have watched somebody pitch a game (or do anything for that matter) just hours before his death. Prayers go out to his family and to the families of those in the car with him...such sad news.
king_tanner
A's fan also not that it matters, but I watched the whole game last night, and I was pretty angry when I heard the news this morning. I hate hearing about tragedies like this, thank god they caught the guy.
Flushgarden
horrible tragedy

slink
Depressing, gloomy, rainy (a bit) day.

The national Anthem was sung.

The sun finally came out (at least where I live in OC).

There playing a tribute on the big screen now.

Go Angels.
rcooj_7
GG Nick Adenhart GG
slink
Vladdy's got to go.

Tired of seeing the weak grounders that turn into double plays.

We've got a ton of infielders and outfielders.

Be good to see them trade for a pitcher.

Fuentes out/Shields in.
slink
Guerrero's stinkin' up the place. If he is injured, get him outta there and Napoli in as DH. Would like to see how much power he could sustain over 400-500 at bats.

At the very least switch Hunter to 4th and Vladdy to 5th or 6th when Napoli plays.

This season is in the tank.

GG drunk driver.

Texeira .182 3 HR 10 RBI and boos from the crowd when he strikes out, GIDP or pops up

Morales .280 4 HR 16 RBI

I'm pretty tilted about Morales myself. He was a preseason sleeper of mine in a fantasy baseball dynasty league, but I gave up on him when he was struggling early on and I needed help at first. Then he got hot and someone else picked him up. I hope he goes into another big slump now.
rcgs59
Halladay on the mound no sweat, what an easy $ 5 Ko8e , enjoy the game I wish I was there too. Will watch it on the tube

we are only 19-10 vs what 12-13

Go Blue Jays

Well we see what happens when T0r0nt0 faces some REAL pitching. Lol.

Weaver, 3 hit CG.

FTW

BTW Napoli is the man, release Guerrero!
slink
2 of 3 (again) against the B0s0x.

Nice.

Shudda swept except for the Arson Squad.

Release Guerrero now.

Next up, Texas.

12-4 in last 16.

Blow Jays suck without Hellagay pitching.....just saying.
slink
You're welcome Red S0x fans.

Heard Woods, Aybar, and Saunders for Halladay.

I would do this in a heartbeat, it's like trading Halladay for Aybar.
slink
One HUGE reason for the Angels success lately has been because Vladimir "rally-killer-double-play" Gayarrow has been on the DL.

Oh, and Abreu, Figgins, Morales, Hunter, Aybar, Napoli, Oliver, and Fuentes.
slink
Angels and Dodgers with the best records in their leagues.

Freeway Series FTW!

see, that doesn't have the same ring as Battle of the Bay did in the 1989 series. If you two do meet, you should name it the Traffic Jam series.
slink
lol

But they have been calling it the Freeway series since the '60's for preseason games.

Battle of the Bay sounds kinda homo, actually makes it seem even more appropriate.

Wonder what they would call a Chisox-Cubs series?

the Drunken asshole Punch You In the Face Series.
slink
Since June 11 Halos are 34-11. Granted this is the part of the schedule where you expect to win at least 60-67% of these games, (not 75%).

Starting pitching has been pretty bad, especially noted when the announcers spew all over themselves when Saunders or Weaver goes 6+ inning giving up ONLY 4 runs.
Relief pitching has been pretty good of late.
Hitting best in the AL

17-9 vs. the East
18-10 vs. the Central
14-17 vs the West (2-7 vs. Texas)

If the Dodgers lose tonite the Halos will have the best record in baseball.

Only hope for the Angels to make a deeper run in the playoffs is if Texas wins the Wild Card so we can matchup against someone other than Boston.

Still don't understand why the best record in baseball is prevented from playing the wildcard if it comes out of the same division.
GeneralGeeWhiz
rematch from 2002 world series would be interesting....
slink
Teixeira 26 hrs 77 rbi 283 ba 180+million
Morales 23 hrs 69 rbi 299 ba free (already signed prior to 2009 for about 1 mill a year)
slink
Well Gayarrow's back.

Let the rally kills commence.
slink
What a surprise....

Double play Vladdy Gayarrow comes back and the offense takes a dump.
slink
71 - 38 against all teams not named Texas.
slink
Update:

Texeiria: 286-31-97 1 error

Morales: 307-29-91 6 errors
