holy crap...are the Jays THAT bad this year!? did they lose more than AJ? I haven't really followed the changes.

McGowan and Marcum will be out for the year, I think. So the rotation is trash, save for Doc.

And they can't hit, as evident from last year.
serge
Lets believe this year guys..We may not have the best team on paper, but neither did Tampa and Philly last year.

GO JAYS..

PS Travis Snider is a beast and a future 40 HR 120 RBI guy..

not yet but soon...If he plays the whole year he is good for 25 HR 80 RBIs

they both had a way better team than the 2009 Blue Jays. Plz don't bring your delusional but faithful cheering for the Jays as you do for the Leafs. smile.gif

lol..come on its Spring Training..Everyone has a bright outlook..
evilturtle
Well that was a fun game! Lind with 6 RBI's and a HR and Snider with a double, HR. Even if the season turns out bad, it'll be fun to watch our younger guys.
serge
Its going to be a fun year..If we can get any pitching from our young guys, we might have a chance..

Reelishymn
Nice win but let's remember that it's only the Tigers. Typical classless Torontonians throwing crap onto the field too.

And Edwin Jackson is 1-hitting them right now...
serge
Great win from behind..

2-0 baby

Good thing Lyon is worse than B.J. Ryan (the bomb and hits he gave up are concerning).
evilturtle
Woo 2-0! Might be the highest in the standings we get all year.
Yea, those people are idiots who threw all the stuff last night. They are the people who just go for the opener to get drunk and never come back for the rest of the year. The Rogers Centre already got busted during the WBC for over serving and serving minors. Surprised they didn't get busted again.
Reelishymn
4-1 now, impressive. They're actually hitting the ball with RISP, but where was that last year?!

you guys had horrible hitting coaches last year. I might of been off on my guess.
fleung22
Cito's got the Jays going again. Now if they just change Rogers Centre back to Skydome we're on our way to another championship!! smile.gif
serge
Dont look now , but we are the best team in baseball..

WEEEEE
Reelishymn
B.J. Ryan in that 9th inning was UGLY. They need to send him down to work on some things.
pezeveng
I think having Cito will help the Jays batting big time. Marcum should be back by June or July, Dusty is out for the year.

I also think we need to go closer by commitee this year as BJ is done physically and mentally even more. He needs to get the mental focus back which is very important for closers, you either have it or you don't.

As for the lineup Millar and Bautista are great guys to have on the bench and Lind hitting behind Wells is perfect. I doubt Overbay and Rolen will have b2b sub par years and Vernon should stay healthy. The one part of the order Iam not sold on is the leadoff position with Scuturo he may surprise us but with him and Hill batting 1-2 isn't the best start, but will see.
outsider13
Definitely Ryan and Rios have been a big disappointment thus far. Other than that, the team - especially the pitching, has been far above expectation thus far. Hopefully Lind/Rolen/Scutaro/Hill can keep above .300 for the season.
fleung22
we still doing g00t?
Reelishymn
6-3 so far, albeit against 3 so-so teams.
outsider13
These guys are looking pretty good.......or lol Twins. The Twins look like they could be in touble if they can't get their pitchers to pitch and Mauer is out for longer than expected. Things don't get any easier tonight.
Reelishymn
I looked up team stats and the Jays are in the top 5 in very many offensive categories, but average overall in all pitching categories.

This is the exact opposite of last year where their pitching was really strong but they couldn't hit a beachball.

Considering though where there pitching "should" be according to critics, i think it's a huge accomplishment to be where they are.
outsider13
LOL Twins!
serge
We are awesome..

We are killing the ball, except for Rios who went back to back 0 for 5.

The pitching isnt as bad as could be. Romero and Richmond have looked good , and Purcey has the right stuff to be a great pitcher.

Imagine the rotation next year with Marcum and Mcgowan. If we can keep Doc, this team is going to be a powerhouse for a few years.

We are 8-3 , but as Dan Shulman said yesterday, its only 11 games. Equivalent of one game in the NFL.

But it sure is fun.
rcgs59
Love Cito back at the Helm. He was always the best at bat instruction. I can feel a great season ahead. Those games against the Twins were awesome just worried about keeping the pitchers healthy.
rcgs59
weeeeeeeeeeeeeee

2 of 3 from the A's

BJ Ryan breaks Cust 40 game reaching on base in todays win Solid pitching today. Rio's got to start hitting

yesterdays 12th innning homerun win

we are now 10- 4 , bring on the Rangers on Tuesday

this. the jays haven't made the playoffs in a while iirc. wait till you guys face the good teams.
pezeveng
following the jays on a daily basis for many years and 2 things usually happen. The bats heat up and the pitching goes south they lose 9-8 games or the pitching heats up and the bats go south they lose 3-1 games. So far this year the opposite has happened everyone knows the bats will cool off its a matter of them winning these 3-1 games and getting the quality starts at the right time.

The bullpen is solid and the batting lineup is solid I thought we might be weak in the 1-2 slot but Hill and Scutaro have been better than average. The starting five is thin though Doc is the best and most consistant pitcher in the league (just look at the numbers) and Romero might be a pleasant surprise (I love ground ball contact pitchers they keep the game moving and last longer than KO pitchers) but the 3,4,5 slots are horrible. The Jays will need Marcum back soon I think he will be back in May hopefully with the control on his slider and his fastball in the 90's. If Dusty wasn't out for the year I would be happy with the starting 4 but right now they only have 2 major league worthy starters.

Purcey would have been sent down if we had a worthy replacement.

Reelishymn
Won our 5th straight series to start the season, nice.

The White Sox will be a good challenge.
