Who's hyped?
aadams_22
I'm not overly hyped, but will probably get it. Just trying to decide for which system though since the 360 controller is a joke for fighters, and I don't want to throw down $70 for an arcade stick.

The only thing about the 360 version is that I am guaranteed to find more people to play with online.

bumping cuz I got it. Anyone wanna playyyy

It's out Friday over here. I can't wait!

Reports on the new characters?

Is Gouken awesome? Is Seth unlockable? Give me something before Friday please!

how is it?

CrookedLink
I haven't owned a straight up fighting game since like Tekken 4 on the PS2 but watching some of the gameplay of Street Fighter IV on justin.tv makes me want to get it.

But like someone said earlier, I don't want to dish out any extra money to get a gamepad. Will the game really not be as enjoyable if I just use the 360 controller?
aadams_22
I went ahead and purchased it tonight. I'm liking it so far, although Seth is incredibly cheap.

I'm not having too many problems with the ultras on the gamepad, although a stick would be much better. However, I will wait for them to come down in price before I purchase one. The only problem I'm having with the game is Seth. All he does is spam that teleport.
aadams_22
I only have 3 characters unlocked at this point. Even on the easiest level Seth still kicks the shit out of me.

I was so close to getting this today at best buy, but decided not to until the $39.99 Mad Catz FightPad is widely available since it's sold out everywhere except ebay where they are going for $70.

damn that is a cool ass controller.

Suited_Up
I need a joystick probably.

I'd like one to play MK2 also.
aadams_22
The fight stick definitely helps, but trust me it's not imperative to play the game. The analog sticks on the controller are more than sufficient to use if you want to play the game right away, and not have to wait for a fight stick. Also for moves that require all 3 punches or all 3 kicks, your LT and LB (L1 and L2 on the PS3) are allotted to those specific commands.

Just be prepared for literally 95% of your online opponents choosing Ken...and no I'm not exaggerating. The game is definitely worth it, and there is so much little stuff that can keep you busy for a long time.

I honestly wasn't thinking about buying this game but with all this talk you guys got me thinking.

LOL
aadams_22
the one thing I hate about the game

this sums up the online play really well

TB17
Anyone wanna play ? I finally got my HRAP for 360.
aadams_22
I'm finally starting to win quite a few matches online now. I'm really proud of myself since I was, and pretty much still am, a mediocre SF player.

haha, if i ever played the game this would probably be pretty funny. I did hear that Ken pretty much dominates. I want to buy it but currently have no game systems to play it on. I have always been a pretty good SF player on the SNES. If you are good at the SNES one, do you think it would translate over to this one at all? Maybe a little bit? Lol at that Zangief pic, hes a ****ing beast!

Yup it plays the same smile.gif. I love the fact the very first button combo I tried was Bison's psycho crusher and it worked! And lol at the Ken diagram. Is online really that bad?

your skills should translate pretty well, the moves are almost completely the same

Once you start winning some matches, and build up you battle points then you run into fewer Kens. Most of the people who play as Ken are VERY bad and usually translate into easy wins. Or, you can do player matches online and you will have a much easier time finding non-shotos. Besides a good Blanka or Zangief will tear a Ken a new asshole pretty easily.

only about 700 atm, but I openly admit to sucking at this game

I had it around 1100, but a comination of playing superior players and goofing around on my part dropped me back down.
TB17
ken pretty much sucks in this game.

aadams want to play sometime? Need to test out rufus.

if I'm playing then sure, I'm trying to perfect using Seth
Jadaki
Tried playing it for the first time this weekend. I really like it but I definitely need a joystick, the gamepad sucks for SF.

at least the analog sticks are a step up from what we had to use on the SNES and Genesis

Championship Mode is now available via XBL as a free download.

The main thing is that it now allows for tournaments, and a few other options that I can't remember off the top of my head.
TB17
I like it...really really hate seths tho.

Anyone know how to view replays?
