Anyone read this? I just finished it and found it ammusing. I enjoyed a book away from stratigy, and just about stories. TO me it was an easy read and a page turner, i just wanted to keep reading.
My favorite of the stories was probably the 5 high winning a monster pot.
Something about 5 3 against 44 preflop. When the flop came 4 2 2 Making player a. have an open ended straight flush draw, and player b. a full house. They got all in for what i believe was around $12,000. Then the unthinkable happend. 2 2 Making the board 22224 and player A takes down the pot with 5 high....

I enjoyed it alot as well... good read, but not much on strategy

I was actually pretty down on the book even though I was formally I huge Phil Hellmuth fan.

If you have followed Phil you will see in the book that at least 75% of the hands come from his "Hand of the Week" in cardplayer. Before the book even came out I had read all of his hands in the cardplayer archives.

Needless to say I was disappointed.

I found "Bad Beats and Lucky Draws" a great read AND amusing in at least one respect...it is surprising to see just how many types of hands pros play and how far they will take a hand sometimes with few outs...

I was very surprised at how many hands that Phil Hellmuth will put chips on the line with! Almost wreckless...

The pro's own analysis is great. Hearing about what the pros think about their own play was insightful. Their human tendencies come out and they make plays I'm sure they would like to rewind also...

Another one that made me laugh is when his wife got outdrew to runner runner royal flush.... he sai dit upset him so much HE went on tilt and lost $500 playing 5/10

I enjoyed reading it, but parts of the stories about the European tour kind of bored me, but maybe that is just me...

I use to be a big Phil Hellmuth fan but Phil has had his day in the sun and now im a big fan of Daniel Negreanu, any way getting to the point i read this book and i thought it was just another way for Phil to whine, this book really isn't a real good read i don't recomend this book to anyone.

I don't know what I expected, but I expected this book to be better. If you have watched your fair share of poker on tv a bunch of the hands are ones you have already seen. There are some great stories in the book, but overall it struggled a bit for me.
