barring a few brief season 3 whoopsies, i have no problem whatsoever saying that. it's definitely the best show i've ever seen, in terms of being an artistic achievement. the only ones that i've ever gotten an equal experience out of are the wire and deadwood, and if network tv was allowed the same leeway that hbo has, i have no doubt that lost+a few f-bombs would be the stone cold nuts.

Some T & A would be ok by me as well.

I've never loved a show so much, it's rocking my world big time.

I thought last night's was my favorite episode of the season. The whole them being back in the 70s thing really adds another layer of intrigue to the plot. It gives the writers a lot of room to maneuver and reveal, and it lets us learn a lot more about Dharma and the Others.

Plus, it was really cool to see the statue.

In Season 2 (3?), Sayid, Jin, and Sun go sailing on Desmond's boat to the other side of the island to meet up with Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley as Michael is taking them back to the Others to get Walt back. Obviously, he was just taking them to be kidnapped so he could leave with Walt. On the way, they see a large stone foot with only four toes on the coast. When they were stuck back permanently whenever it was in this episode, they saw the whole statue.

Enjoying the season, but I think they could have drawn some of this out a bit longer. I'm sure they have a lot more planned before the series ends, but a lot of this feels like it came together rather quickly.

Lost may end up being my favorite all time network TV show.
But I still think the Wire was a better show, one reason being they were allowed to say whatever the hell they wanted.
I'd really like to see the Wire cast get magically 'ported to the island and have a showdown with the Lost cast.
Or vice versa, Sawyer and Kate selling dope on a Balmore corner, and Sayid going around robbing ppl with a shotgun.

I thought last night's episode was the best of the season as well. And so far this year has been my favorite season so far. We are finally getting a lot of answers without too many additional questions, and the pace has definitely sped up compared to past seasons.
Season 6 next year will be the last, correct? I wonder what the cliffhanger of this season will be. A Ben/Whitmore/Locke/Richard island showdown?

I thought about it some more and this is exactly it. I really enjoyed how the first few seasons only really covered a few months, if you don't count flashbacks/forwards. It's just a way different pace now and it's taking some getting used to.

Whitmore mentioned a big war coming up. I have a feeling that starting in a few weeks, the show will start pushing towards that war.

I read a very interesting theory - just a theory, not inside info, but I'll block it anyway.

Our left-behinders have zapped back to Dharma days, and spend 1974 - 1977 waiting for Locke and their friends to arrive. This is good for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that now we don't have to worry about age discrepancy between the O6 characters and the Left Behind crew. This also means that Daniel Dae Kim can use his fluent English on this show, which has to be nice for him. This also means that we can get plenty of flashback for the LB as well as the O6. We're all the way back to Season 1 structure the rest of the way, I imagine, or at least for the rest of the season.

But here are some other things it certainly means. First, Richard knows Sawyer and Jin and Jack and Hurley and Kate and Locke and Daniel and Juliet and Miles, and probably Sayid and Sun and Frank as well. I would say it is likely that Ben (who is on-island in 1974-1977) knows them too. If Widmore wasn't lying to Locke about being the "leader" during Dharma days . . . well then, Widmore knows them too.

Now think about that. Back in Seasons 2-3, we see Ben meet our Oceanic survivors, and Richard too. When they meet them, our heroes have no history with Ben and Richard and the Others. BUT . . . the Others already have a history with our heroes. They know them well. Not OF them. They've spent time with them, either as friends or as adversaries. They lure Michael into a trap, capture him, and ask them to bring back Hurley, Kate, Jack, and Sawyer. Why those four specifically? Well, one reason is that they ALREADY KNOW THEM. They may already be friends with them. Or enemies. We're going to find out.

Is it starting to make sense how Richard and Ben have such fat dossiers on all of the Oceanic survivors?

Is it starting to make sense why they may have kidnapped Locke's father, to have him on-island for the proper time?

Is it starting to make sense why the major players may have manipulated these specific people to be on Ocean 815? It's for what they will do later in their lives, yes. But what they will do later in their lives, they will do at an earlier point in history. So, in a way, they are being brought to the island to fulfill what they have already done. They need to be on Oceanic 815, not so that they will come to the island, but so they will come BACK to the island. You see? To them, they are on the island for the first time. But for Ben and Richard, and who knows how many of the other Others? They are returning. They were already there in 1974. They need to be on the island because they were on the island.

As Faraday says, whatever happened happened. It's destiny.

Makes you wonder about this coming war that Widmore and Ben refer to. The one that they seem so sure that Locke and the Oceanic Six need to attend. Why are they so sure of the results? Why are they so sure that Jack and Locke and Co. need to be there? Doesn't it seem likely that this grand battle, upon which everything hinges, takes place in the past? That the reason our chess players know so much about what is about to come because they've seen it already?

I think the best part of this show is actually going to be watching the second time after you know all the secrets to really see what was happening.

So wrong. Juliet is not attractive. She's shaped like a dinosaur and her character is awful. Yes, Kate "I'm coming with" is not as well rounded a character as she should be, but Juliet is straight awful. And watch the way she walks, no sexy at all there.

I will be entertained to find out what Sawyer's knickname for her is though. I'm guessing 'Scotty'. We'll see.

Yea, but Juliets bags would be fun to slap around.

My first reaction to this episode was wow they did a good job there.

Then as I thought more about it I thought they took a long time to tell a small amount of information.

Once again we are given more things that are going to need to be explained later.

Claire's baby was supposed to be this major deal according to the physic in Australia, If we find out that Aaron is taken back to the 70's he could end up being one of the characters we already know? Like the red headed chick, which what the heck was the point of that? Hey you're going to die if you come back to the island?

Don't buy Sawyer still carrying a flame for Kate after 3 years and shacking up with Juliet.

I find Juliet much hotter. And I've just found that as the show has progressed, pretty much everything about Kate's character annoys me.
jmbreslin
You guys are nuts, Kate is about as hot as it gets. Find the best pics available of all the Lost women, post them here, and let's compare.

LOL at Juliet being hotter than Kate. I'd take Rousseau (the older version) before Juliet.

Here's a question that's been on my mind: why did Ben kill John? If John needed to be dead, why not just let him hang himself? Why save his life only to kill him? Didn't he already know about the woman who helps them get back to the island, in which case he didn't need that piece of info?

He needed to know the womans name of the person who was to help him get back to the island. He killed John seconds after John told him.

One thing I'm wondering, the people on the Island are in the 70's now? And the people in the real world are in the 2000's, so if the island is in a different time, how did Jack and co. manage to find it by flying into it?

Time warp? Bermuda Triangle effect? What I'm wondering is how a bunch of them ended up lying in the jungle and floating in the water, while John ended up with all the survivors from the crash.

Another question emerges which I'm sure will be answered by Jack's dad. Why did all the survivor go back to the 70's and Sun did not? Could it be pregnancy/baby related?
Can't wait for the next episode.
jmbreslin
Was wondering the same thing about Sun.

I have to say I don't like the role reversal between Sawyer and Jack. Now Sawyer is the Alpha Male and Jack has to follow his lead. And Sawyer seems way to integrated into the Dharma Initiative. Something just doesn't sit well with me about that whole situation.

And how did Sayeed end up on the plane in handcuffs? The last time we saw him he walked away from the rest and threatened to kill Ben if he ever saw him again.

He was on the plane in handcuffs by the girl who is now with Ben, Sun & Pilot on other Island. Apparently they caught him for the murders and were transferrring him to another prison??? who knows??
I do remember him getting on the plane in handcuffs though with a female cop or agent. They sat about 3-4 rows in front Hugo when the plane crashed.

I have always enjoyed their power struggle throughout the seasons for everything. Leader of the survivors, Kate's affection or whatever.
jmbreslin
Power struggle has been good but I much prefer it when Jack is the leader. That whole scene with Sawyer/Lafleur criticizing Jack for always reacting instead of thinking was pretty silly. All of a sudden Sawyer is Mr. Intellectual, reading a book every night and thinking strategy? Or is that some sort of trick the writers are using to exaggerate the role reversal, ie., now Sawyer is the brains while Jack is the dumb guy cleaning Dharma toilets?
