http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1205489/Just got back from "Gran Torino" starring Clint Eastwood and I must say it was one of the best films I have seen in a few years. I saw "Slumdog Millionaire" last week and loved it but Gran Torino floored me. Eastwood still has it and he might win Best Actor & Director Oscars. If you get a chance, I highly reccomend it, even if your not an Eastwood fan.

I'm not saying I don't like watching him, but he's totally Keanu.

Just felt like Eastwood was a lock with this type of movie.

The movie was good but not great.
Eastwood was epic though, he had so many great 1 liners, it was hysterical.

I mean...he's a legend and all, but can someone please explain how he's a phenomenal actor, not just a guy that plays the same part (possibly himself) in 95% of his films? I don't have a strong opinion either way, I'm just curious.

Even if he does play the same character (John Wayne anyone), he plays it so well that we overlook it. But to compare him to Keanu Reeves is just ridiculous. Most actors play similar roles in all their movies. There are very few actors who can play completely different characters and play them belieivably. Clint is just exceptionally good at what he does. I dont know, Im a Clint fan though, so I could be blinded.

He's a much better director and filmmaker than he is an actor.

Saw this tonight and I loved it, but I don't get the Oscar hype. It was good and really entertaining and I'll probably watch it everytime I catch it on cable but an Oscar winner, really? And there was some pretty laughable acting.
As far as Clint goes, I don't think he's a great actor but that doesn't mean I don't love him.

I've seen very few Clint Eastwood movies, but I have to say that this movie was amazing. I loved it and I can't see any other actor being in it. The one liners were fantastic and I loved one way a critic described it-as an action movie but the action was in the dialogue. I can't wait to see it again.

I can't think of many good actors that aren't type casted. Actors who try to switch up roles too much generally hurt their career's imo.

This movie was incredibly on the nose.
The acting was painfully bad in some parts.
The buzz revolving around this movie is way, way overinflated. It's worth a watch, just to see Clint do his thing again, but otherwise it's average.

I just watched this movie for the first time last night and I have to say it was laughably bad. the story line was beyond generic (hey, instead of blacks, lets make the good kids in a tough situation asians! brilliant!), the acting was a joke, even clint's, and the dialogue sounded like it was written by third graders. and the song at the end? clint singing? fucking really? I slapped myself on my head as I was laughing.

Finally saw it.
C+ at best.
Two dimentional characters. Pretty basic but enjoyable story. Downright horrible acting and direction at times. Photography and editing were choppy.
Clint was good and his character was well done.
Ending wasn't as clever as I think most people are thinking. They were pretty heavy-handed on telegraphing the Jesus symbolism.
Really, the only redeeming things for me to make this an OK movie were Clint and a couple of Fair scenes. Like I said: enjoyable, but certainly not great in my book.
...oh yeah, Clint Singing at the end. Wow. So bad. Kyle Eastwood had the music credit. Another instance of Clint giving pieces to famlily members or women with whom he is sleeping.
